I am 34 weeks pregnant and i have been getting quite bad rib pain on my left side and have heard it's just because the baby is pushing against my ribs but was wondering if there is anything i can do. It gets worse when i sit down and don't sit upright.

i had that with my son thing that worked with me was stretching to the side that lasted for a little bit but i lived with my hand under my ribs pushing his feet down. He has pushed my ribs out and it hasn't gone back but you cant really notice and it does hurt now.

Also read your other post about numbness i had the same when i mentioned it to my midwife she said it was due to him not having enough room. Hope this helps.

my middle son lived under my ribs, it was horrible. you can try sitting on your hands and knees to get the baby to move or rub the baby. there's really not alot you can do. the baby probably doesn't have alot of room.

I had that all the time with my babies -- i would lay flat on my back for as long as i could stand it, and put my arms up over my head to gently stretch -- its unfortunatly a part of being pregnant -- before you know it the baby will be here -- as much discomfort you are in - try to focus on lots of rest/sleep and relaxation techniques - maybe practice some breathing techniques and a focus point away from the rib pain -- then when you are in labor you'll know what to do when you are in a different kind of pain. Take care, hang in there and enjoy the time that you have left before baby is here!

Congratulations!

my little girl done that from about 28 weeks and i know how painful it is. the reason why she did it was because i was measurin small. i gave birth at 37 weeks and was only measurin 29 weeks by then so there was no room for her 2 move. i found sittin upright and rubbin the area eventually helps 2 move them!! hope this helps!

I have had three babies and they all did that.the only thing that helped me was to rub the area and eventually the baby moved his/her position, and the pain eased.

My oldest did that with me and I got all kinds of advice, put ice there, lay on a cold floor, eat something cold, etc, etc. NONE of it worked. The problem was that he just didn't have enough room so he had nowhere else to go. I was too small for a baby his size. I could actually feel his feet, they used to catch on my ribs and wake me up out of a dead sleep. It was very miserable and to this day I have a sore/numb (numb on top, sore inside, wierd) spot where his little feet used to hang out. He's 2 now. You can try any of the above advice, although you probably already have, and I hope something works for you! If not, at least you are almost done! Good luck with the little one
