Pubic Bone Pain?

Hi everyone,

I have had this before with my other pregnancies (this is my fourth baby), but it has NEVER been this bad. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and in unbearable pain. I have a very strange popping in the front of my pubic area, and intesely sharp pains running down the backs of both legs... there are time I literally cannot move my legs. I'm still working full time as a graphic artist, so I spend most of my day sitting at a desk, but if anything it just makes moving around worse. By the end of the day I'm on the couch with pillows between my knees and under my belly (and anywhere else I can fit them).

I've mentioned it to my doctor multiple times with the general answer of "it's one of the pregnancy pains, there's nothing to do about it". Tylenol does not help, and due to the lack of sleep and hormones I am beyond exhausted... and my husband has so generously pointed out that I still have weeks to go and that it's just going to get worse. Has anybody else had this happen to them? I am open to ANY suggestions at this point, anything to help the pain.

Please help??

Thanks,

Kate

It's called pubic symphysis dysfunction. I have it currently with my fourth pregnancy and you are right, it is miserable!! My doc says same, it's just part if it!! Glad i'm not alone :)

I had something similar only it was that I was releasing "relaxin" to early in my pregnancy. I could barely walk let a lone up and down stairs. I did massage therapy and some physical therapy. It helped some but not a great deal. I had instant relief right after deliver. Good luck

I had such bad pain in my sciatic (sp?) and hips in my last pregnancy I sometimes could barely walk. A couple times I got stuck lying on the couch till my husband got home. It was awful. I do know pains can get worse with every pregnancy. I'm sure they are just pregnancy pains from everything shifting and stretching. Try stretching, warm baths and heating pads. The pains down your legs is probably your sciatic nerve and stretching will help some. You could also try and find a good chiropractor that treats pregnant women or go to a massage therapist.
