If he has already been potty trained then I would look into other factors.
Is he stressed? Has something in your life changed recently?
If you seriously cannot find any reason for his behavior he may just be trying to push his limit to see how far he can push you. If this is the case, get him to start cleaning up his own mess. Tell him if he cannot use the potty/toilet then he has to clean up his mess. Get the cleaning stuff, like a paper towel and hand it to him. If he complains about it tell him he should have gone in the toilet.
I did this for my son when I was trying to get him to do number 2 in the toilet. He would pee in the toilet, but refused to do number 2's. So I just stopped putting him in pullups and made him wear proper underwear and told him if he made a mess in his pants he had to clean it up himself. Only once did he poo his underwear, and he complained and cried about having to clean it up himself.
Since then we have had no problems.
Hope this helps.

The best advice that I can give is that maybe you might want to put his potty in his bedroom just to see if he would use it in his room. I figure if he won't use it in the bathroom maybe he will use it in his room.
