My son is 2 yrs old. We recently moved 3 weeks ago and during the move he transitioned out of the crib due to it not being here yet so he had his matress. he does really well minus the fact he rather sleep on the floor. Is there something I should do to keep him to stay off the floor?

So he wants to sleep on the floor, that's fine. My 3 1/2 year old tried sneaking into my bed a few nights in a row and like supernanny says, I put him back in his own bed without fail, so he resorted to sleeping on the floor of his room. I place a blanket on the floor for him to sleep on and cover him up at night. Sometimes he wants his bed, other times the floor. It's like camping out. I always give him the option each night. I figured it's just a phase. I don't see any harm in it. It could be his way of dealing with the move to a new home, bedroom, bed and all the other things that you might take for granted in a move that do effect him. I like Jennifer Sanders idea of transitioning him to a mattress on the floor. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi. My son, who is now 3, would fall asleep on the floor, too. Probably for most of last year, he'd fall asleep everywhere but his bed. In the corner, by the door, amidst all the stuffed animals he'd throw on the floor. All of a sudden, a few months ago, he started falling asleep in bed! I think Wyatt's (my son) thing was he likes falling asleep next to something, because he was always against the wall. Then he realized his race car bed had a back that he could sleep against. now he falls asleep right up against the back the head of the bed. I guess as long as he's comfortable and warm...he'll figure it out.

my son is 5 and i still catch him sleeping on the floor. i just leave him. he likes it and i dont see any harm in it. he has a twin size bed now and i find him on the floor under it about 3 times a week. once i found him under my bed lol i pulled him out and put him in his bed

if he rolls off onto the floor then when you get a bed the rails will help but if he moves to the floor then i am with her and would just let him sleep there, just keep putting him to bed on the mattress so he knows that is where he is supposed to sleep

why not let him? at 2 they are ready to start trying to sleep in a "big kid bed" and maybe that's his way of letting you know he is ready to start transitioning. you could use the mattress on the floor to teach him no to roll and to be careful when getting out of bed and then after a few weeks add the bed frame and see how he does.
