My daughter will be 6 months old in a couple weeks and she is not sitting up on her own and she is not rolling over yet. She can half-way, but not all the way....should this be a consern?? Thanks! :)

i wouldn't be too concerned! just remember every child is different.. y boy was crawling at 5 months and was walking by 11 months however my Daughter who is almost 9 months only started crawling at around 7 months .. so as you know everyone is different.. try and sit her upand incourage her is probably the best thing once she starts picking it up there is no way stopping her, if she still hasn't rolled over by 10 months i would take her to the dr's just to be checked, but for now i wouldn't worry

speak to ur health visitor if ur worried but the guidelines say as long as they do it by 9months there's nothing to worry bout. all these timeline type things r rubbish, my sister in law and i have kiddies 3 weeks apart something her daughter does way before my son and vice versa. dont worry at all.

My daughter (now 5) did not sit until she was more than 7 months, she crawled at 5 1.2, so all babies are different, I thought she should be sitting before crawling but the Dr. said she was just a busy little girl!! I have a 3 1/2 month old son and he cant figure out how to grab toys yet, his arms just go nuts when he tries lol.  I am not concerned tho, hes just figuring out how things work, little ppl are so new at everything its sooo cute to watch them learn :) Also, I babysit a little boy who is 10ish months and he cannot crawl, he just rolls, but he is perfectly healthy and on par with everything else, my other friends son just started pulling himself up and I dont think he crawls yet either :)

You should not be worried at all. some kids just take longer to figure things out. Try A Bumbo it worked very well for my son :) hope this helps

I don't think you should worry. All babies hit their own mile stones at their own pace. I was worried about my little girl for the same things. Two weeks ago she learned how to sit up and hasnt stopped. She loves to be in a sitting position now. She turned 6 months today. She still can't roll over very well. She can roll over to her belly no problem but can't get back but once in a blue moon. She hates being on her belly, so it'll take her longer to learn how to crawl too. I've talked to her doctor and she told me not to worry. She's learning, just in her time her way.

Don't worry, she'll get it. =)

All kids are unique and go at their own pace so it's normal. There are some things you can do to strengthen the muscles that can also be a fun playtime. For instance, give her some tummy time which means that she lays on her stomach and has to lift her head to see around. I used to do that with mine. I would lay flat on my stomach too and face her and do silly things to entertain her. It strengthened her neck, back and stomach muscles. She started to roll over from front to back during tummy time and and eventually she started to roll from back to front. I would help her roll from back to front by holding her hand to steady her until she could finally do it on her own.

To help her learn to sit up, you might want to invest in a Bumbo. You can get them at Target or Wal Mart. It stabilizes baby's body comfortably and at the same time it teaches her to sit upright. Sitting up is a huge step and it can take quite some time for her to get steady.

Mine is 7 mos and she just started sitting up and she still gets unbalanced at times. She also just started rolling from her stomach to her back. She is my 3rd and they were all different. My first didn't walk til after 12 mos because I carried her all the time. My 2nd child walked at 8 mos cause she had her older sister who was only 2 years older than her. Now my baby has a 10 year age gap and she is following same pattern as my oldest...I carry her alot.  Don't worry just relax.. They grow up way to fast.

no not really every child learns different things at different times like learning to walk before crawling my son  had learned to roll over from font to back and then after a day of doing it just stoped and all of a sudden my father in law comes to stay for awhile and now he is rolling again front to back and back to front and is somewhat trying to crawl all i can say is make sure you give her tons of tummy time and i was teaching my son to learn to sit on his own by when he islaying down i grab his hands and arms and pull him up and at first he was just limp but now helps and has sat all by himself for a little while so it will happen just keep working on it when they want to it and are ready they will do it too but until then encourage and help and teach but it will happen soon

Hi Hayley,

It sounds like she is making attempts every baby works at their own speed.

My daughter didn't do anything until she was 7.5 months and now shes 9.5 months and almost walking. It just took er a small amount of time to discover she could move and then did everything within 6 weeks. I hope you can baby proof super fast if your daughter is the same.

good luck, and don't worry enjoy her well you can!

No dont be all babies do things at different times my 1st was walking at 8 months old then my second didnt untill he was nearly 2.  She will do it when she is ready.  My daughter is 9 months old and has been sitting up for 2 months.  Is your daughter your first child.  Another thought you should try a bumbo to sit her in it helps with sitting
