I had my tubes tied when I was 22 and had my second son. My OB didn't mind doing it. He said that he had never had a patient who took that decision lightly, and that it was a personal decision that he would support and help along if it was one I made. I knew (and still know) that I didn't want any more kids.
The IUD is something that I would suggest if you are anywhere near being on the fence about this. Just be careful- I have known 2 people who have gotten pregnant on it because they didn't know that it had come out (their OB's both said it probably came out right after having sex). I also know that most docs won't give you an IUD unless you are in a monogomous relationship, though I don't fully understand that.
Best of luck! This is a hard decision to make, and there will be a lot of people who tell you you're making the wrong one, but only you know the right path for you.

I had my tubes tied almost 3 years ago and I regret it everyday. I was not wanting anymore children with my husband(now x husband) and decided to get the surgery, and I want another child so bad now and unless I pay big bucks then I cannot get the reversal, and with that there is no gurantee that u can get pregnant again :(
Really make sure u think it through and give it ALOT OF THOUGHT

I would say, get a birth control that lasts a few years and is safe.. then maybe in 5 years you can get the Essure done. It's as effective as getting your tubes tied but you don't have to go through the risky operation. I'm prego with our 3rd child and after i have her i will get the essure done.

I would suggest waiting and using an IUD for now since you seem hesitant. I am 24 and I plan to get my tubes tied after I have my twins in June. I have two children already and the pregnancies have had their share of complications. Plus 4 is more than enough for me and my hubby, we only planned on 3, lol!

I couldn't imagine making that decision at 20. One of my friends decided to when she was about 22 after her 3rd, she is now 27 and would love to have at least one more. I would wait if I were you, just in case. Good Luck with your decision!

lol ... when i was 21 after i had had my son i asked about getting the mirena and because i had only had one kid my dr. told me no, cuz it can cause complications later on sometimes... most dr.s wait until you're 25, i don't know if having two children already would affect that decision or not. I would recommend doing what everyone else says and go with an IUD or some other type of birth control, you might change your mind in a couple years, you are still really young. I'm pregnant with number 2, and I'm 23, my husband keeps saying he's gonna get snipped, but I told him he's not allowed to yet lol. We're wayyy too young to decide we're done having kids. Even if we have this child, and never end up wanting another one, I don't want that choice being taken away, when I was 18 I was convinced I was never gonna have kids, and didn't want them or getting married. I got married a year later and got pregnant like our wedding night, and adore my son and can't wait to meet our second lol. I know men's is pretty easy to reverse, I don't know about women's... but I wouldn't take the risk that you could be that small % that ends up screwed and not able to have kids again even with a reversal. It is all up to you though, only you know how you feel. Just don't make the decision in the heat of the moment, think LONG about it. Atleast wait like a year after having your kid before deciding, I would say.

I have the mirena right now its a 5 year IUD i would totally reccomend it i have 1 little boy right now and im 26 i know i want at least 1 more child but not yet so i had the mirena done. I think that you should try getting an IUD but as said before only you know whats right for you.

I had my tubes tied after I had my 3rd child. I was only 21 years old. I thought for sure I would NEVER want children again and convinced my doctor it was a good choice. Looking back, I regret that decision. I am now almost 27 and would love to have another but my tubes are tied. The surgery to reverse it is very expensive and most insurances don't cover it. I think if you are on the fence at all I would reccommend using an IUD.

I have two little girls and like the thought of being able to have another child if I want one I think that it's such a drastic choice to make at such a young age I've got the marina coil fitted as it lasts 5 years and your ready to go straight away lol if you so wish
I don't think a doctor would even consider you for such an op your far too young it's not the best soloution and it holds some very high risks too do you really want something that you can't take back? X

most doctors will not tie your tubes until you are at least 21. the choice is up to you but if you feel like you do not want any more children and you never wanted any to start with i would say go for it. talk to your doctor though and talk about other options that are availible. you could always get the 5 year birth control or 3 year and get your tubes tied later down the line.

my doc suggested i get the iud for 5 years then if i still dont want anymore come back and he'll set it up for me to get my tubes tied, i decided to take his advice because it does make sense, im 21 and just had my second

Most doctors won't do it when you're that young, so I would suggest the copper IUD. It lasts 10 years (and can be taken out at any time), and then you can opt for a more permanant solution.

Many doctors won't tie your tubes at a young age b/c they don't want you to change your mind want you get older. I would wait. Who's to say you may get to your 30s and decide you are ready for another!
