I'm in the same boat. I need help. My last period was December 21st or 22nd. Can't remember but I have the paragard. So here it is January 27th now mind you my periods since giving birth 8 months ago has been pretty regular always between a 28-31 cycle length between periods. So I should have had a period by now. And here I am now between 5 and 6 days late. 2 negative pregnancy tests as well.

Go to the doctor now and have them take it out!!! That is my best advice. When I got pregnant with my son I had an IUD in and every test I took came back negative. I knew I was pregnant and I knew that the test was coming back negative because of my IUD. My body was trying to miscarry my child. I did not realize when I got the IUD put in that most of the time they prevent pregnancy but some of the time instead of preventing it they can cause you to miscarry. Which is exactly what was happening to me. I would go to your dotor and talk to them but if it was me and I knew now what I didn't then, I would get it taken out immediately. Every pregnancy test you take will probably come back negative. I took 8 and 4 were at the hospital (blood tests) and they still came back negative because of the IUD, I had them take the IUD out the last time I went and sure enough the test at the hospital came back positive. Turned out I was 13 weeks pregnant. I had only had the IUD in for 15 weeks. I am truly thankful I did not miscarry and that I had the IUD taken out because I wouldn't have my middle son if I hadn't and he'll be 8 in July (as of 2014, I edited this post). I wasn't ready to get pregnant yet at that time, that's the whole reason I had the IUD put in but everything happens for a reason, I truly believe that and I'm so grateful he's with us and he's mine. He's the sweetest most loving boy and still likes to cuddle and love on his mommy and daddy!

Good luck! Get checked out and let us know how it goes. There are many reasons why you could be late, but with an IUD (hormone free) the best bet is to make sure you do not have an infection, pregnancy, ect. Good luck!

Do you breast feed?

I never had a period for 3 years.

Because I breast feed both my kids.

I had a hormone free IUD. My periods got really funny for 2-3 months about 2+ years in. I finally went to the Dr and my IUD had been slipping and had to be removed immediately bc I had a really bad infection. They said had I waited too much longer it couldve compromised my fertility. I was able to treat it just fine and got preggo with #2 within 4 months.. whoops! 17 wks now! Just go to the Dr though. It could be nothing but it could also be something best caught early! Good luck to you!! Hope you don't have to go through the same stress I did!

I had a Mirena IUD inserted 6 weeks post delivery. Within 3 months my periods stopped. I maybe had some light spotting a couple days 2-3 times a year. I wouldn't be too concerned, but if it will make you feel better you could also go see your doctor.

Are you having any other symptoms? Fever nausea abdominal pain strange odor or discharge? Could be a prob with the IUD. I wouldn't chance it and would go to the Doc or at least call and see what they say.

I had my Mirena for a long time time before my period stopped too. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you've taken pregnancy tests and they show negative. Enjoy not having a period, it's pretty liberating! :)

i have a mirena and at about 16 months in is when my periods actually stopped. and i havent had one since its been almost 3 yrs now. so it could very well just be that. if the test are coming back neg. i wouldnt worry. its pretty common for most women who have iud to stop having their period. but if you feel like you could be pregnant then see your dr.

Go to the OB now. I had the Paraguard, and last December I wasn't feeling right. My period was about 2 weeks late, and it went on forever, but was very light. All of the sudden I started hemmoraging, and when I went to the ER, I found that I was not only miscarrying an 8 week pregnancy, but further tests showed that it was an ectopic. It took three months of treatment to resolve it all.

Its the IUD. I had one put in 2.5 years ago and have never had a normal period since I've had it put in. Mine last from 14 to 3 days sometimes they never come at all. I don't like mine and am going to get it removed as soon as I can. I hope this helps. But if your worried go see your doctor

if you have been irregular before wait..but if you have never been in this situation before..i say get a early detection pregnacy test...n if that still doesnt ease your mind set up a check up. its better to know than to assume. best of luck. E

Paragard aren't supposed to stop your period, right? Call the doc and get a pregnancy test. Could be nothing, but it's a good idea to check. If you are pregnant, the IUD needs to be removed ASAP.

depends on how badly you want to know! Periods can be late for other reasons, one being stress. So if you are stressing about being pregnant, that probably won't help. The sooner you find out for certain, the sooner you can stop stressing about it.

If you have any doubt that something might not be right, I'd call the doctor. You know your body the best... your cycle and how you feel. It's best to get checked out and have nothing wrong than to not get checked and wind up in an emergency situation. IUDs and becoming pregnant with an IUD in place can be dangerous to both you and your potential baby. They come with a long list of side effects. All the best.

I had my Mirena IUD for well over a year when my periods rather suddenly stopped. Nothing was wrong, and I wasn't pregnant. When my husband and I decided to have another child, everything went according to plan, so there's no lasting effects. You should be fine, but if you have any doubts, see your doctor.
