If you started to feed your 5mnth old baby food, depending on what stage put a little cereal in it. Then make a bottle with some cereal in it as well. But not the same amount your child would normally drink. With my son (6months now) I do stage 2 foods (he eats the whole jar) then a 4-6 ounce bottle (He normally eats 8oz or more). Then a couple hours later do a normal amount for a bottle feeding with a little bit of cereal in it. Promise he always sleeps ALL night!!!

I found with my son, Jack, he was quite a good sleeper (only waking once if that) up until the 5 month mark. At 5 months he started waking twice for bottles and sometimes even more than that. I was honestly a walking zombie most days, i was that sleep deprived, up until he turned 10 months.. then one night, he slept 12 hours and ever since he has done the same, he's 1 now. I put it down to them having a HUGE growth spurt at that time and just simply being hungry. Jack was eating solid food at 10 months so i think thats what made him sleep through. But of course you can feed little ones meals as big as that as their tummies cant digest too much yet. Its just a tough time. Just something you need to go through. I'tll pass, just keep the rutine constant and they catch on.

well i was the same way with my son if u started to feed him in the middle of the night then u started that habit now u have to break it but i didn't learn that till my son was about 9 months old stop feeding him if u are through the night and let him cry as hard as it is trust me u need to do it i broke my son of that habit and now he goes to bed at 8 p.m. and wakes up at 7:30 am...i just had to let him cry...also try feeding your 5 month old ceral mixed with fruit right before he/she takes a bath let him/her play for about 15 - 20 mins in the bath then put him/her to bed.....that's also another way to wear him/her out......

I'm not to sure about the putting cereal in the bottle. I haven't tried that but I have heard that it is not really good for the baby. But if your baby is eating solids try adding more feedings during the day for your baby. This is what my doctor told me to do for my 9 month old at her six month check-up.

Tammy,

As a mother of three boys I have experience all night sleepers and one who just can't seem to get the idea that night time is for sleeping not playing.  With all three of them however I have kept the same routine. Your five month old is most likely hungry and wakes you up for those 2 and 5am feedings. Try a little cereal in her bottle and it might cut out one of those feedings and allow you to catch some z's
