My 3 month old daughter (madaline) throws up alot after every feeding. I burp her after every ounce and even bought the bottles that reduce colic and gas ( the vented ones) she has been on alot of different formulas and they whould work for a few days then she whould start throwing up again. Our dr said try putting rice cereal in her bottle so we did and that didn't even work. I just don't know what to do, my first two didn't have this problem at all. Madaline was a month premature but so was my other daughter. Could someone please tell me if there is something else I can do?? Thanks so much

My daughter had the same problem. We tried several different formulas (I was unable to breast feed) and none helped. We even tried the Zantac for babies in her bottles! Turns out that the sphincter muscles in her esophagus are not completely formed. I was born with the same defect and still have issues as an adult. The only option to fix this problem is surgery. My mother would not let them preform it on me and I told my daughters doctor that surgery wasn't an option for her either. She's almost 1 now and the spitting up has almost stopped. She still has her food come up occasionally (so do I). As an adult, I have the occasional brutal heartburn, and if I lay down or bend over before my food is digested, it still comes back up! But we're both healthy! Maybe this is your daughters issue?

Yes we have tried soy. I think we might try a different brand because she's been on similac.

I know u said they've tried a lot of different milks but have u tried soy milk? This sounds like my daughter. Shes older now but she can't have milk still. Her stomach can't break it down right and it makes her sick and clogs up her colon. . Not saying this is ur case, just sayin mine. But good luck with this. I hope they figure something out Friday.

Thanks for the advice :) I was breast feeding but she got so sick off if it I had to stop. I tried changing my diet and everything. It's like everything we try she throws up alot. She goes to the dr Friday so hopefully she has gained weight.

I'm no expert, just throwing some thoughts out. Bottle fed babies swallow more gas than breastfed ones. I know it's late for you and circumstances might not allow, but I've been told it is sometime possible to restart lactation ( contact la leche league if this interests you) after it has ceased. It might help? Also, if you stick with formula, try an organic one. GMO's are in corn and soy and that's what's in non-organic formula. Gmo's cause problems in the stomach and intestines of the animals that eat them. Perhaps la leche league or the hospital know where you can get donated breast milk for your babe? Good luck! How worrisome!

I work in a daycare for 7 years now and see this alot. I dont think its a big deal cause the kids i see doing this a perfectly healthy. Gaining a good amount of weight. It seems loke they vomite alot of the milk up cause alot comes out but ithink its only half of what they eat. I think as long as shes gaining weight she should get threw this stage but if it looks like shes losing weight and vomits when she starts on solids then you should ask the doc to run some test. When my daughter has a health problem that im worried about and they say its no big deal i demand some blood work done. It doest hurt to ask.
