So I got my sonogram done 6 days ago and I still have no clue what the baby's gender is. It looks like nothing to me but my husband sees girl parts because of the white lines and my brother thinks he sees boy parts. I am not able to get another sonogram for 5 weeks. What does it look like to you? (Oh and the baby was at a funny angle in me. It was moving a lot and kicking my placenta.)

This looks like a girl to me, but don't trust my guess. Call the office back and have the sonogram tech tell you what she thinks. If she can't tell, she can't tell, but she should have at least responded to you. I think that was kind of rude of her.

What sucks is I have been told I have to have another sono to see if everything is ok with the baby. So I have to go to the same lady.

The sonogram artist should have told you. Sounds like they did a botched job.

To me it looks like a girl, when I got my sonogram at 20 weeks I had to ask her if she could see the gender and she told me that it's a girl, she showed me how there were 3 lines so that means it's a girl and that's exactly what I see in the picture you put up. My mom thought it was a boy even though the lady told us it's a girl so now at 27 weeks I went back to have another sonogram just so my mom can calm down and buy pink clothes and stop buying the blue ones lol and they showed us again, 3 lines :)

Sometimes it's hard to tell the baby don't move right or the cord is in between the leg. With my first baby it was easy to tell what the baby was. He was laying with his legs wide open. With my second baby was more of a change she wouldn't show us untill I was 30 weeks. My my youngest son was the same way I had to wait to find out. It's all up to the baby and how they are siting. Good luck

Honestly I had tons of sonograms done and can read them fairly well and I can even tell what part of the body im looking at. With both of my boys, there was no denying any boy parts.

I wish I could get one sooner but they said they will only do it between 26 weeks and 36 weeks.

Definitely. At least the 3D tech will give you the time of day and actually try!! Plus its a really great experience. I had one done at 16 weeks with my son and he was hugging the placenta, which was so cute. And I had one done with my daughter at 35 weeks and it looked very much like she did when she was born. But I know what you mean, I HATE waiting. I wanna know what I'm having the first day I find out I'm pregnant LOL

Yea we are getting the 3d done on the 15th of next month. I just hate waiting so long lol. But I figured it is better having peace of mind.

Go pay for a 3D ultrasound. The people who do them are awesome and they will do anything they can to figure it out. The picture doesnt look like much and it sounds like your tech was on the lazy side.

On the full body shot, I think what your friend is saying is "boy parts" is actually the baby's ankle, and it is blocking the view of the sex. Best wishes, but from these two shots, it is near impossible for me to tell. I, however am not an US tech.

id go by what the technician says with my third kid we were told it was a boy but everyone told us it looked like a girl which had me worried cause we already had two girls but in the end the technician was right i mean they r trained to look at that kind of stuff

There is some risk attached to sonograms, so having another one done just to get information about gender really isn't advisable, the baby can actually hear the noise, and there is very definite evidence that they cause intra uterine growth retardation. While it's nice to know the sex, it's also nice to have a surprise, truly!!

Picture really blurry so can't make out anything. Talk to your doctor about this or the technician who did the ultrasound.

Do you know how I can get someone to look and tell me for sure because the hospital I go to only has this lady that does them and she wont do a 2nd one.

That looks like the umbilical cord to me, but the parts are totally blurry so I don't think you can tell! It was really obvious to me with all my kids, and that doesn't look clear enough to know for sure.

I loaded it on my phone so I can't say it's definite. But if there are 3 white lines its a girl. Only girls have 3 holes.

Sometime the sono tech isn't allowed to give any information on what they see (because they aren't docs). If I were you I'd call your doc office and ask to know the results of the sonogram. They should be able to tell you right there if everything was normal, your amniotic levels, etc... after you've gotten the conformation on the results then ask if they were able to tell the gender. Good luck!

I know she could hear me because right before that I asked if there was a reason why the photo was so blurry and she told me it is because she had it zoomed in.

Maybe she didn't hear you? Although it is strange, they often ask if you want to know. Maybe she couldn't tell either. Don't worry too much about it. I never knew with my youngest - they couldn't tell. It was nice to have the surprise.

Unless you are trained in reading the sonogram, I would trust the guess. You need to have a professional read it for you. Why didn't you ask when you had it done?

Here would be my advise......wait until your next sonogram. I know that is hard to do when you are excited and REALLY want to know, but sometimes waiting is better. Sonograms are hard to read even for those that are trained in reading them. There are still people today that get told they are having one gender and when baby is born it is the other gender. Another thing that comes into play is how far along you are. All babies start out looking female. Usually gender can be determined on the Sonogram around 18-20 wks.
