my baby girl loves stories and all books i have read to her since birth almost it opens there imagination and helps them learn so much and its fun to see how excited they get to learn something new or at least for my baby girl or actually all 3 of me girls have always loved for me to read to them.

I love reading to my baby too, he's 6 months old. We are a bilingual family, or at least I am bilingual english/french and papa speaks french so I read in the two languages

I totally agree with you. I also suggest that you let your kids catch you reading. my kids love to copy me, I read much larger novels then they can read yet but they will happily pick up one of my books and pretend to read it along side me!

Both my older kids read all the time now (6 yr old and a 7 yr old) they have their own books at home to look at.

One thing I suggest though before they start or during their start at learning how to read is to teach them how to sound out words instead of just going by sight words (most schools start out by teaching them to recognize sight words but will not give them a way to learn on their own)
