My daughter was breastfed till she was one and was on the bottle till after two (maybe 3)

Wean your child when you feel he/she is ready not just cause other parents say you should..

My son doesnt talk apart from mum dad ect and i dont think he would understand me saying that his bottles yucky and he need to put it in the rubbish. so what age did everyone make there little ones give up the bottle? he is still waking 3 times a night for a bottle and he drinks the whole lot so he is hungry i cant afford for him to lose any weight because of a medical condition. What whould i do at night just give him his sippy cup and hope he drinks from that? which would mean he would have to wake completely.

I have a great story that was shared with me and it REALLY worked. I was told to have my son to throw away his own bottle. We told him it was yucky after about 10 mins he decided he would throw it away. Here is the catch...We then threw the remains of brewed coffee. We showed him that his bottled was indeed yucky and dirty. The look of his bottle dirty, in the trash and covered in brown stuff made him be ok with it. Then when he asked for his bottle (about 6 days) we would remind him that it was nasty and it was in the trash.

Hope this helps!

I just took the bottle away completely. He was acting like he didn't want it anyway, so i figured why not. And he was 7 months at the time, I just put his formula in the sippy cup. now hes 12 1/2 months and has been drinkin out of his sippy cup with no problem for 5 1/2 months.

I started only giving it to them at bed time. When it was not bedtime they could only have a sippy cup and then i eventually started sending them to bed with a sippy cup but only with water because after a certain age it is not good for their teeth to go to bed with milk or juice. this worked very well for me. you also have to let them cry themselves to sleep sometimes. It really doesnt hurt them.
