I am about to go back to school full time. I have a daughter starting Kindergarten this Fall and a 2 year old boy. My husband works to support our family, that a way I can go to school and be with the children. I want to hear from other moms who are also in this situation or have been and how you handle everything?

hi, I had my daughter at 19 , I am nearly 25 now. My husband and I have been students since the birth of our daughter. I cant imagine doing anything else. I run a home business 12 hours a day and study part time and both of my kids are home with me. I have 2 diplomas and I am working on a double major in arts and science. my husband is completing his masters in economics and has a double major in economics and political science, he also works as a kayak coach. We have 2 children and are busy all the time. we also have lots of family time. There are things that we have sacrificed such as social lives but we are fine with that. We just love being busy and love being together.
good luck, being a wife, student and mommy is very rewarding and tough

I'm pretty much going crazy! ..... Just kidding, well sort of. Add full-time work out of home to that and you have me pegged. I feel really guilty really often for spending so much time away and just have to remind myself the reasons I started and that I'll be done soon (realatively in the grand scheme of things).

I just make sure the time I can spend with my family is genuine time. I plan my study time for after my son is in bed. And, don't be afraid to ask for extensions!

I tried going to school while I was pregnate, but I was too distracted! I hope that one my husband will be able to support us enough to be able to stay home again! As long as you have a sitter go for it! Just remember you're doing this for you, as hard as it is, try not to think about your kids, because it will only distract you and you may miss something important! Good Luck. I cross my fingers that I'll be able to back to school someday.

I am 7 months pregnant and finishing up school now. This last semester I decided to take online classes. It's has worked out great. I'm a little nervous about the end of this summer semester though since our baby is due July 23 and classes are until August 12th, but maybe I'll be able to work ahead and get done early as long as nothing goes wrong, God forbid! Good luck and I'm glad you are interested about going back to school. I think you'll be glad you did. It will all work out! God Bless!

I am also thinking about going back to school this fall my husband works full time and is in the pipefitters union and is still in school full time, he works a lot. We have a 5 year old going to kindergarten full time a 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 year old. It can be done my sister and sister in law are doing it but with 1 child each. I would like to find a balance so that I can atleast get my pre reqs done. I don't ever plan on working full time but when all the kids go to school I would like to work part time.

Thank you all for your replies. It's definately inspiring and helpful to know there are other mommies going through the same tough times. And very inspiring to know I can finish with a smile on my face! Thanks moms :)

I graduated high school (late) with a six month old and 8 days before giving birth to my second daughter. Started college that fall when she was six months old also. It was tough at first trying to determine when was Mommy time and when was Student time but you will quickly figure out that Mommy time comes first then when they go to bed it is Student time. I am now working on my bachelors and just gave birth to my third child. I was SOOO overwhelmed having a newborn at the end of the semester but worked VERY well under the pressure. There were times when I felt that I was neglecting my daughters ( took night classes two times a week) but on the weekends did things with them. My girls are in 2nd grade and kindergarden. My husband would complain somedays that we didn't spend much time together, but I would make time for him too even if it meant watching a movie instead of getting a paper done right then. It will be easier while they are younger because their bedtime can be earlier. Therefore leaving you more time to do homework and spend time to yourself and with your husband. I have now done it with all three children and I do think that the hardest was the newborn! Congrats and good luck.

I am six months pregnant and am now a stay at home mom!! I am doing online school to further my education - it works for me and am planning on cutting back on classes if it gets too hectic (two classes) - it'll be hard, but can be done.....
