My twins are two and I dont know how long I can let them use these security items to fall asleep. they have a very tough time sleeping and this has saved my life. any advice.

My son is 3 and he has always liked to suck on the smooth or silky parts of blankets...I let him have one in bed, only at nap and bed time he can bring it out when he's getting sleepy. But it never leaves the house, so I figure it's ok. I liked it better than a pacifier, because I figured it wouln't mess up his teeth coming in. :)

I would also say to keep it limited to bed time and nap time if you really think it's a problem. That's what I've done for the most part except for times of big transition like moving across the globe which we've done 5 times already with my 2-year-old. Then I let him have it as much as he wants it for a month or so until I notice that he doesn't seem to "need" it outside of sleeping times.

He sucks on it sometimes too. I haven't tried to do anything about that. I figured he might have started it because my 6-month-old does that and he's copying her.

My daughter also sucks on blankets. She has since she spit that pacifier out at 6 weeks and she's 17 months now. I never let her take them out of her room. She can take them from the bed to the changing table and then she has to put it back in the crib. She also really like the blankie animals. I think as long as they're not carrying it around the house all day then they should be fine. They'll give up the security eventually.
