My 2nd daughter (Haeley) is almost 6 weeks old now and i am switching her from breast milk to formula, i have been gradually increaseing the amount of formula and decreasing the breast milk feedings she recieves over the last 7 days.. she now drinks 4 oz about every 3 hours during the day and if she gets hungry between i will let her nurse a little bit and she is still getting all breast milk during the night.. She is doing very well with the formula so im wanting to completly take away the breast milk at this point.. but is 7 days long enough of a switch over period??

With my first daughter, I switched to formula after about a week of blending breastmilk and cows milk in a bottle. I had a lot of engorgement for about 2 or 3 days, I think a week is long enough to switch over, you will have swollen boobs for a while though.
Also, as soon as I switched to formula at night, my daughter started sleeping through the night!
Good luck!
