so generally he eats every 2-3 hours eating 3-4oz plus he has cereal with veggies mixed in, in the morning... he sleeps from 10pm-6am without a feeding... now from what ive been reading this is perfect for a 4 month old who is 13lbs... but today he has been throwing up alot!! and nothing new was introduced. now he has been bottled feed exclusivily for a week now but has had this kind of formula once a day for the past month and a half... am i over feeding him? why else would he be throwing up... he has puked 8 times today.. all 1-2 hours after his last feeding....and my son normally never ever pukes!!!! maybe once every two weeks ill get a lil spit up from him... any ideas?

He should be eating 24 ounces in 24 hours, give or take. During the day he will probably take closer to 3-4 hours at a time and at night, if he doesn't have reflux, he might be able to take 6-8 ounces. That's what our daughter does!

I bottle fed from birth but had a similar problem with my daughter being sick, alot after every feed. We changed the milk, she was on cow and gate and we changed to sma and she is hardly ever sick now. Perhaps its the combination of introducing food and milk to him at the same time? Maybe he is just getting used to it?

My son went through the same thing when I switched him from breast to bottle. My pediatrician assured me it was normal. He still spits up a lot of his formula. I just learned to keep a burp rag handy. Good luck!

well he had carrots today... and his throw up was orange... so i am just gunna avoid carrots and go back to just cereal for a couple weeks and then try carrots again if the same reaction occurs then its the carrots... if nothing then imma chalk if up to he was doing alot of ab workouts today haha sitting/tummy time/eating feet maybe it just affected his tummy

It certainly doesn't sound like overfeeding to me; the bottles sound about the right size. How much cereal/veggies is he eating?

When he eats do you generally watch his cues for when he's done or when he wants more? That's the best advice I would have for being sure not to overfeed.

It is possible, though it doesn't sound likely, that he is having a reaction to either the formula or some solid food, since some allergies develop over time; for example, I ate strawberries all my life, and suddenly reacted to them while pregnant with my 2nd baby. I have heard of similar things happening with peanut allergies as well. So you might want to talk to the Dr about his throwing up. I guess you might want to talk to the Dr anyway.
