for the record clove oil stinks big time!! but what im going to tell you does too!! lol but my son loved to chew on raw onions he would instantly chill out theres something in the onion juice that helps, it also help ear infections so its a double helper since teething can cause ear infections. My cousins swears by frozen french toast sticks.

what i found that works and its going to sound crazy is carrots that are cold, skin it and give them the big fat end and frozen waffles.

They make all kinds of things. With my son our doctor recommended Motrin for infants. It is just a little better then tylenol. It worked I only gave it to him when he was in pain and it would stop. I never like teething rings they are too big. But I have seen this mesh bag you put an ice cube in. My friend said it worked. I also found taking a popsicle and rubbing it around his gums worked too. It tasted great and numbed it for awhile. My aunt and uncle did use the rum on the gums trick they swore by it. They only dipped a q-tip in it and rubbed the gums. I have a friend that said vanilla extract worked, but it does have alcohol in it to. Oh and necklaces are not recommended cause your child can get it tightened around their neck and choke to death. But amber stones held by their checks is said to work. Also real licorice sticks work to found at health food stores, not the candy it is too soft, it is a herb. Cloves is said to work, just rubbing a very small amount of clove oil on the gums but not too much cause it can make their tummies hurt. Good luck.

First time heard of it but it sounds like "let's go to the witch in 10th century and ask for an advice about teething":D
