I went through this too and still do from time to time..but I use teething tablets for infants..Its instant pain reliever, plus reduces soreness, redness, irritability and it calms them..completely all natural..get them at any drug store and wal-mart!! works great also give them a cold-wet washcloth..works wonders!

Hi Kat,

My daughter Sienna started teething at 3months and now has two teeth.I found that bonjela, pamol and breastfeeding helped take away the pain.Particularly breastfeeding as their ears can get quite sore while teething-the sucking somehow helps alleviate that pain.

Also with my eldest I let her suck on my finger alot and chew on it as it seemed to help.I would say a rusk but 4.5months is probably a bit young for that.

Hope something helps her as teething isnt fun for bubs or mums!

I used Hyland's Teething Tablets on my first baby and it worked great every time she would get restless and you could tell it was teething (as she would be gnawing at her hand and drooling a river). You can give them 2-3 tablets up to 4 times a day and they are small white tablets that dissolve almost instantly in there mouth which is why I liked using it better that any gel that I would make me have to stick my finger in their mouth to rub on there gum's. My almost three month old seems really bothered by teething already too... same thing with all the drool and wanting to put his hand in his mouth to rub... and I have started to give him one tablet every time I see him looking irritated and its been working for him too. Hope you try them because they homeopathic and work great for me. I have found the tablets at Walmart and Albertsons... I am sure other places sell them too.

My lil man loves a rusk teething biscuit or frozen soft fruit (apple, pear, banana) in a special mesh fruit dummy (u can get them at chemists and supermarkets) that stops them from choking on small peices....really good for everday use as well as to soothe teething pain!

I asked this question myself a few weeks ago and someone said teething tabs, I did try them but they did not work for my son. You may want to try them, a lot of moms loves them. I found that the best thing someone said to me was a wet a wash rag and stick it in the freezer. He loves that and it keeps him occupied for like an hour. Good luck!!

I recommend the teething tablets, also used to give my son a little Tylenol & also they now have out some awesome teethers that vibrate! I found them at wal-mart, it's the shape of a strawberry & when he bites it, it vibrated for him & relaxed his gums! I didn't find them til he was about 9 months but he loved them!
