Terrible fours?

So, my daughter has recently just turned 4 & a few months before her birthday, my husband & I noticed that she was behaving horribly, refusing to listen, not picking up, telling us "no" and "never", we really can't get her to do anything, we have tried every tactic possible it seems and nothing works, time outs, grounding, loss of privledges.... just nothing. I don't know what else to do at this point. Everything was fine, then all of a sudden bam, out of nowhere, this is just so unlike her, she has never acted like this before. But now we are going on months with the same continued behavior. I took her to the doctor & the doctor said perhaps a therapist but my husband & I aren't sure how much help that would be to our situation.

Here is a little background as to what's going on at home, we have a 10 yr old step daughter who is here every other weekend for visitation except during the summer or holidays or if there is something going on then the routine gets spaced out and it could be a while before we see her or what have you. My husband works long shifts & I am a stay at home mom, just me and her most of the time. No big changes really, I just can't figure out what caused it or more importantly how to handle it.

If anyone has any experience with counseling & young children or what have you please let me know. Thanks.

Have u tried a point system? We have one that worx beautifully. Fourty points gets u a present of your choice,10 crosses(bad marks) gets u a time out...simple as that and it works, make her earn the good points, make the good points as much as 50 or 60 before she gets a present so that she feels she's working towards it. A low number of bad pionts otherwise you'll be spending your time yelling and getting frustrated and the whole thing falls apart because you've been giving her too many chances, try it and see for yourself
