I was thinking about choosing Implanon birth control. Anyone on it? What have you all heard about it?

I have it and I LOVE it!! :)
It hurt a little when it got put it, but I haven't had any problems with it since then. I was on the pill before I got pregnant, and had problems with that, as far as mood swings and gaining weight, but with Implanon I haven't had any of those problems. And I love not having to worry about taking a pill everyday. The other thing I like is that it lasts for 3 years, but can be taken out sooner if I want it.

I have it. I like it. I haven't gotten my period at all. Unfortunately I had a bad acne reaction that is one of the side affect, But i got control of it using a face regiment. Other than that i like it. It in my left arm and I don't even notice it even with short sleeves.

I got the mirena put in, in september and i'm liking it so far. I did have a bit of cramping the same day and the next, but i just didn't do anything. But when i got my first period in September i didn't stop bleeding. I've basically been spotting ever since. but i also just found out that i have cists on my overies. and that is causing the continued bleeding. but otherwise i think it is the best form of birth control ever!! lol good luck if you get one.

I was thinking about getting the implanon but my doc talked me into the paraguard instead. I had some problems with any birth control that hormones and she said that paraguard would be better. It has no hormones at all and is just a copper IUD that works for up to 10 years. It is effective the second it is put in. The only side effects was that my first cycle after I had it placed, was a little heavy, but nothing unbearable. Since it has no hormones you don't get mood swings, gain weight, acne, headaches, or depression, which is common with any hormonal bc. So, talk to your doctor and see which one she feels is best for you. I found the paraguard best because it was cost effective, instant, and I wouldn't have to worry about any hormones, but only you and your doc know what's best for your body.

I got Mirena back in April and love it so far. I don't have periods with it (didn't when I had depo either though..). I have recently had some mood swings but I've been struggling with some depression and I think its more related to the depression than mirena.

Talk to your doctor about it, only s/he can help you decide if its what is right for you.

I'm on it and loving it! I got it implanted about a month and a half ago. I'm still spotting a little bit but that's going away very quickly. I haven't had any emotional issues at all and I'm the type of person whose body freaks out any time I take any kind of birth control pill. Doc said it's more effective than a tubal ligation.

there are two the copper t and the mirena. The copper one last for 10 years but from what I was told it makes that time of the month bit harder then before or worst. The mirena which is the one I have on for a year now is better. It lasts for 5 years and within the five years most people see it within a year, your period is suppose to go away until its removed. It hurts when the put it in and you get cramps for a few days but then its all good. I still get my periods after the year but its like nothing compared to before I got it placed in. but there are still some bad witht he good like urinary infections, and some other probs I can't remember right now but if you want on then mirena is the way to go. If thats what you choose...good luck

Everyone is different .. try it and see if its for u or not is all i can say!

I got Mirena 7 weeks after I gave birth. I fell in that low percentage of women that get crazy bleeding at first. It didn't hurt at all going in. I imagined that it would have hurt...I was like, "that's it?...nice." lol. I walked a couple blocks from my doctors office to my mother's work and I felt a bit sore...not too bad. The soreness lasted 2 days.

I had mentioned that I fell in the few percent of women that have crazy bleeding...What I mean by crazy is that I bled for 2 1/2 months straight. It was like a "non-stop" period with heavy days, light days, and everything in between...and a few days with cramps. BUT...I just got my first period after that "non stop" one this month, which is a month after the bleeding completely stopped, and...It lasted one day...med. flow. I was so happy =] I hope I get to be one of those women that eventually stop getting their period with Mirena. That would definately make the first months of bleeding worth it. lol...the fact that this one was only a day already has me thinking that I made a great choice.

It's like everything else, It will either work for you or it won't...You would just have to try it and see...I think that it is great though. It's low maintenance...so it's my kind of birth control =] I have tried Depo shot, the patch, pills, and the ring....I'm kinda making my rounds with all of them. lol

hey there... i had the implanon in for 2 years n at first it seemed great... but after about 6 months of slight spotting maybe every 6 weeks it changed to heavy period like bleeding for 3-4 weeks at a time with maybe 2 weeks break in between n then straight back to the heavy bleeding again... my doctor told me this was normal... and prescribed me with tablets that were ment to help slow down the bleeding but never really worked... i got fed up with the bleeding all the time and got it removed 18mths ago... this is just my experience and i personally wouldnt use it again just in case the same thing happens but everyone is different n it could be perfect for u...

I am also planning on taking Implanon. I talked to my doc and he said it is really good. He also is the only one in his practice that puts it in. I got some information about it. It says Implants are on the most effective birth control methods available. Also more than 4.5 million Implanon have been sold worldwide. Implanon is soft and flexible and can be left in the body for up to 3 years. It contains progestin-only method, which may affect your bleeding patterns. My doctor prefers this over anything else because the others contain estrogen.

I try anything once, and if my doctor insists... Twice. Lol! But I had the mirena put in after my second baby and it perferated my uterus... They most painful thing I have ever gone through especially seeing as though I was not under any sort of anesthetic. I walked around with it in my body cavity for 10 days before he sent me to get x-rayed. Then had to go through surgery as it was lodged somewhere close to my heart... After my 4th baby my new and competent doctor assured me that she's good at doing it and nothing would go wrong... And nothing did, except 3 months later I kept getting reacurring uterine infections and loads of heavy non stop bleeding I had to have it removed anyway.
Not saying it happens to everyone and I can see the benefits of it, if it works for you. but just wanted you to know there are people who's bodies don't respond well to it...

Good luck, and I hope it can work for you!

I have had it twice and loved it. I did hurt when they did put the local in and I did feel a bit of pressure when they inserted it. And it was the same when they removed it. The whole procedure took 10 mins. But Its great!

If you have had problems with mood swings while being pregnant or on anther bc, it might not be for you. My husband said the first to months I was a little witchy. LOL But after that it has been great. When they put it in you may bleed longer than normal. But after that I haven't had a period. THAT'S THE BEST PART!!!!!!!!!
