The pacifier

My son will be 15 months soon. I'm wondering if I should start taking his pacifier away. Yet, I feel much better if I take it with me every where I go, just in case he starts getting crabby.

i took my sons away when he was a little over a year, but i still breast fed him, but i just took it away and the first three days were hard putting him to sleep but he went, and he never asked for it. . .remember once its done DON"T GO BACK lol i've seen it happen and it just gets uglier after that. ..

LOL, The thing to remember is you can take a dummy away BUT NOT THEIR THUMB, Start by pointing out when out and about all these big boys have thrown, given their dummies away. Big boys dont need them etc... Dont replace it with sweets and if you r only poopin tothe shop 4 5 mins accidently forget it and promise that if he is good he can have it when u get in, then if he eats all his lunch, then if he is good till bedtime, slowly reducing the time he uses it.. DON'T just take it away, wexplain 1st he may just say he is a big boy now and dont need it... remember it is now part of him like your mobile is of you!!! also many children aren't ready to take it away just yet, mine were literally a few weeks old and about 13 mths old respectively but I weaned all my nieces and nephews of theirs with ease as long as u dont make him suffer he will start using thumbs and toys etc!!!! good luck and do what you think is right!!!

its easy to choose the easy way...try restricting it to bed only, meaning if he is not in his bed there is no dummy. the first couple of days may be hard but he will adapt, after a few weeks of that you could try just hiding it and seeing if he notices, if he does just say you don't know where it is and tell him he doesn't need it hes a big boy...if he gets too distressed give it to him and try again in a couple of weeks... good luck
