We skipped the sippy cup altogether. We simply started offering water in a normal plastic cup and cows milk the same way. Once he stopped dumping it all down the front of him or gaging from getting too much (it happened a couple times) we figured we were good to go. Since we never offered anything but formula in the bottle it was pretty easy to wean off the bottle and offer cups of milk in its place.

Keep offering the cup and see if he will take it, if he doesn't after consistent chances, try a cup with straw or just a cup. Some kids don't like to suck as hard as it takes to get the drink out of a sippy cup (it was significantly harder to get water out of the cup than out of our son's bottles, we tried it)

You can probably go on and try him on a sippy cup. My youngest son will be 11 months old on the 13th of October. I am currently searching for a beginning sippy cup for him. Also, I'm not sure if you are aware of this but I'll mention it anyway. When you first start him on the sippy cup, just put water in it at first until he gets use to it. Once he gets use to it, then you can put other liquids in it, like milk or juice!

I introduced them to both my kids at 6 months my oldest, my son, liked them just fine but still took the bottle till his first birthday when we threw the bottles away. On his second we threw out all sippies. My daughter took right to the sippy cups and at 8 months has not had a bottle in about 6 weeks.

I started my son at 6 months to drink water out of it. He still has a bottle for milk though.

I would start him as soon as you see fit, my daughter has been drinking out of a sippy sence she was 4 months old and never looked at a bottle again :) its really not that hard to change them over as long as they are ready. I hope this helps :)

I started my son on sippy cups around 9mos, and he didn't really like them. It took me another 2 mos to find one that he would actually drink from on a regular basis. My son wasn't completely off the bottle until he was 15mos old. After he was a year old he only got a bottle though at bed time.

Now. We started our son on a sippy cup at 6 months. Now at almost 2 he uses a regular cup and has since he was 1. Good luck!

He can definitely have one now! We started our son on a sippy at 7 months, but at that point he mostly just chewed on it. Now he really likes to use ones w/ straws. Nuby is my favorite brand.

You can start him. My daughter was breastfed only and never took the bottle when w started solids. We started the sippy cup at around 6 or 7 months and started with the soft spouts.
