This is our 3rd baby and we've never had a baby shower. I've had several people tell me that it is tacky to have one now, but we honestly have no baby items because my 2nd is 4yo and we didn't plan on more children. Is not appropriate to have a shower?

I didn't know that some people just do a baby shower to their first baby until I was pregnant, I'm not from US and I thought people do it with every baby, if you have never had a baby shower I don't see why you can't have one with your third baby. What I can tell yoj through my experience is that I spent too much money and people didn't gifted me much, so I was thinking that if I have used that money to buy the things I needed it would have been better. This was my experience. I hope you can choose to whether or not have a baby shower ☺

I didn't have a baby shower with the registry and everything, but I bought pretty much everything used and resold the stuff (like on eBay or craigslist) and I managed. Maybe you should ask your friends if they have baby stuff they don't need?

From an etiquette point of view, it is tacky for you or your like mom or sister to host a shower for you, but if a cousin, aunt, friend etc were to host one for you there is nothing tacky or inappropriate about that and there is no rule for second and third child showers. I've been to a few called a 'baby sprinkle' because the woman did not need as many things as for her first child. I bet if you had a friend throw you a celebratory lunch and they mentioned you had a registry that would be a nice way....

I am having my second child and they will be only 22 months a part but I still need a few extra things I created a registry for. I would create a registry and let some friends and family know you would greatly appreciate some help for the new baby. I'm sure one of them would be happy to host a shower for you.
