You could possibly drink castor oil and orange juice, not much cause it will definetly mess your stomach up and possibly put you into labor. I was 33 weeks pregnant i had a hard time using the restroom and my husband and mother in law mixed the two and it definetly helped me with my constipation!

Water...apple juice...and for me, this might sound ridiculous, but french onion soup ALWAYS loosened me up. I'd avoid the laxatives if I were you. Like a lot of the girls here I was told to stay away from them because they could cause contractions.

drink lots of water.. lots and lots. and dried fruit and if you can bear it prune juice but if you cant then drink lots of apple juice and eat apple sauce! avoid bananas and cheese/fats/heavy proteins they will just make it worse

When I was pregnant my OBGYN told me to drink lots of water. After I delivered the baby he gave me Stool Softner! Im not sure if you can take it now. But ask your doctor and see what he/she says.

I just left my midwife's office and she told me that I could start using benefiber and colace (spelling?) I have been taking a medication that will make you constipated. Seh told me to stay away from juice because it is alot of sugar. The one smart prunes are a good idea too.

I'm not very good and drinking a lot of liquids. It made me feel too full and yucky while I was pregnant. I started drinking one of the probiotic yogurt drinks (like Yakult, or Jelly Brown, or Epoca) a day. A lot tastier than prunes or fiber drinks!

Don't be embarrassed....I was going through the same exact thing...I still do at times....and I was advised to either eat a banana, drink prune juice or lots of water...Good luck with everything!

This is something I use. Get some Epsom salt and mix 2 tbls with 10 oz of water and drink it. I would make sure im home just in case you have to go. It usually works within 20 min. It doesnt taste that good..i usually put lemon in it OR put it in boiling water.

Go to the local Wal-Mart or drug store and buy stool softeners. Take 2 1-2 times a day, make sure one of them is right before bed. This helped me.

Coming from a Nurse and Mom of 2...FIBER...TONS OF WATER and Colace (which is just a stool softener...not a stimulant and perfectly safe) They are little red gel like caps and they are sold Over The Counter (OTC) at any store. All of this will get things moving...Good Luck! ;)

Not embarrasing we all go through it, Ive taken stool softneres before and they didnt help much. But then I found stool softneres with laxative stimulant and they are really good. Just ask your doctor if they are safe. Im pretty sure they are. Good Luck

If you can handle dried prunes, try those because they helped me. Drink lots of water, apple juice, etc.

I would drink lots of water and eat fruit and drink prune juice as mentioned but at the same time I would be wary of things like apples and pineapples as I found these gave me really bad indigestion, but it depends what works for you. Louise

My sister is an emergency room nurse. When kids come up constipated they 'prescribe' KFC potato and gravy! Give it a try, other than maybe gaining a few extra kgs if you eat too much, it won't do any harm!

My doctor told me to take milk of magnesia after work, before bed, then in the morning untile I went (2TBS) It took about 2 days to go. I hadn't gone for 14 days! If that hadn't worked they were going to have to do an enema! EEEKK

All i can say is pear juice! 2 cups straight out of the tin, a 5 min walk around the block (stay close to home) and bingo.

Try to avoid this by drinking water and keep moving, walk in the pool if it's too hot to walk outside or your too uncomfortable this makes you cool and weightless.

Best fix this before you go in for baby as it is bound to get worse as you don't want to push too much after giving birth.

dont be embarassed it is very common, I am 20 weeks and going thru the same thing. I take 2 Fiber Choice chewable tablets every day with lunch and it helps alot, dont take any laxatives because they can cause early labor but fiber pills are totally safe, i checked with my DR and pharmacist just to be sure. most grocery stores will have a shelf or two of different fiber pill choices, pick the one that you think will work best, i just like the Fiber Choice chewable orange flavor ones cause they taste good haha

Of course there is! Take some Metamusil ( i think i spelled that wrong) they even have these graham cracker type things you can eat, if you dont want to drink the stuff. Also, have you seen the commericals for the separately packed prunes? They are SOOO good, and if you eat 4 a day, that should help move things right along! I hope this helps and I hope things feel better for you babe!

I was also very constipated while pregnant. I drank plenty of fluids and walked a couple miles a day and still the only way I could ever go was with a glycerin suppository.

I had the same problem and it was due to my prenatal vitamin. Try taking one that has a stool softner in the pill. The iron in those cause constipation in some people. Good Luck:)

Lots of water and light exercising. If you can get to the local gym and jsut walk the track or the treadmil if it's too cold out. Should do the trick:) Remember not to walk too fast if you weren't a walker before as it can raise your temperature too high but other then that it works for me and keeps me regular

I agree, Traci. We go out to eat Mexican food and I have not once left without having to make a quick trip to the bathroom.
