My son will be a year old next week, and he has been on Enfamil ProSobee since he was one month old. Over the past 3 days he projectile vomits any bottle of formula I give him. The expiration date is good on the formula and I have even tried different cans of formula to make sure that it is not just a problem with the formula. He eats and drinks anything else just fine, it's only the formula that gets him sick. I was just wondering if this is a sign that he is ready for whole milk? Also, over the past few days his bowel movements have changed from a dark brown to a yellow color and have become more loose in consistency. I'm just thinking that this is because he is teething, but I'm not sure... Any thoughts on this?

There isnt anything wrong with trying it. He is a week from being a year old, in a week he would be put on milk anyways. My youngest was started on formula at one month old and he projectile vomited, so we switched to soy, still projectile vomited, and now he has to be on Alimentum because he is allergic to the protein in milk and soy. I doubt that he is allergic to the protein because he has been on formula for a while, it could be something that he is eating that doesn't agree with his stomach. Try milk, ask the doctor, I don't think that it would be anything serious.

there is this thing that boys can have that is pretty serious about their muscle around their small intestine that can let the formula in it and the clasp around it and not let it out.. until they projectile vomit.. its probably not the case but i'd get him checked just in case.

My son is 2 months and had this problem. Our doctor put him on similac sensetive R.S. it has worked wonders. I can tell you that I was a baby that was allergic to milk and it started with spit up and then projectile. My mom informed me when my son started having issues. I would talk to your doctor to make sure of all your options, especially since it is about that time to switch to whole milk. Good luck and I hope he does better.

definitely talk tp your Dr. first a bout switching him. but one solution is to only give him half, burp him let it rest then give him the other half n see if he throws up. because my oldest son had the same problem and he was just drinking too much too fast.

How much formula is he drinking at one time? Has the ammount increased recently? He's definately at the age where you could switch him to whole milk instead of formula, but I would suggest talking to your Dr about this before making the change. Whole milk doens't have iron like formula, so his diet needs to have plenty of other sources of iron and vitamin C (helps the body absorb iron).

I know my kids had runny stools when they were both teething and cutting the teeth. As far as the formula goes, I would think it was time he could switch over. At my kids one year check up, that is what our doc told us to do. I know mine did not do well with the whole milk at first though....since they had been on a Soy based formula prior. So we used Soy milk. However, over the years, their tummies can now take the whole milk.
