I am due November 15 so I NEED the crib. My son will be 2 in October. I tried today to let him sleep in the toddler bed with no luck. After crying for about 30 minutes...I broke down and finally put him in the crib. Usually I would have just let him fuss it out, but we have things to do this afternoon and he really needs to nap before hand. I am going to try again every day at nap time. I am just wondering if any Moms out there have any tips for tomorrow.

my daughter was sleepin in a toddler bed at about 13 months.......i just bought it my fiancee put it together and she loved it from the second it was done.....it might have helped that she has a four year old sister that has the same bed but i dont know i just made it fun to sleep in her own big bed....she takes toys and stuff with her now but whatever makes her happy to be in there...shes 19 months now and has no trouble sleepin in it...just let him take his favorite toy or put a movie on.

Thanks Samantha! I think I am just going to keep putting him in it and letting him fuss it out. He will get the hang of it. He sleeps in one at daycare. I just have to be strong willed and not give in.

I know that the usual advice is to let them decide in their own time when it is best to transition, but it sounds like he's ready and is just milking it for all it's worth. I would suggest some gentle, tough love (oxymoron, I know) and try out toddler bed only for a week or so. You may have a few rough nights, but he'll get the hang of it. And it's best to do this now before the baby comes - that's a whole new set of challenges, and this will be one less thing to have to worry about. Good luck!

My son is in his crib but I give him a sippy cup, his blanket, and turn on a Barney movie. He loves Barney. Withing ten or fifteen minutes he is asleep.

He seems to love the bed. He lays in it and says nite nite. We bought it about 4 months ago because it was on craigslist and we couldn't pass up on such a deal. I thought having it around for so long would help him get used to it faster. He also sleeps in a toddler bed twice a week when he is in daycare so I thought this would be easy. He cried and cried until I put him in the crib. I do have a pack and play and if I have to the new baby can sleep in that for awhile. I was just hoping Jackson would take to his big boy bed.

You might be pushing it, he may not be ready for a regular bed yet. Is he showing any interest in the "big boy bed?" Do you have a bassinet or a pack and play that the new baby could sleep in for a little while until your son gets a little more used to the idea? Even if you get him excited about the bed he may digress to wanting the crib again when he sees the new baby in it. I understand you want him to accept the new bed before the baby comes but he may not be ready to do it.
