Any tips for traveling with a 9 month old. We have a 2 leg flight. One at 4 1/2 hour and the other 9 1/2 hours.

Any tips on helping baby cope with the takeoff and keeping him amused????

In may I took a trip out west with my 5 month old... the only thing I can tell you is try and get two seats and dont bring the carseat on board, have them stow it under the plane. Bring food, toys, a blanket and pray he will sleep!!! Our flight was 5 hours - she slept alright and the flight attendants were wonderful because she wouldnt sit with me, we had to walk around... good luck!!

When I flew with my kids at that age it got rough sometimes, I won't lie! But I agree with everyone else, bring a bottle or sippy cup so their ears will pop and definatly a new toy or two. I packed my carry-on or purse full of toys, and tons of different snacks. And anything around that house that wouldn't hurt them that I knew they loved to mess with. I also got up and walked around as much as possible. If you don't have an isle seat, ask if you can have one because you will need to get up a lot. And bring lots of diapers, and a change of clothes. Both of my kids' diapers leaked and we had to change their clothes once or twice. Mainly because giving them water, juice, milk or whatever kept them busy and made them happy. So they peed like crazy I guess. Good luck!!

Make sure you have a bottle or a sippy cup, something they can suck on during take off and landing to help equalize the pressure. We asked the flight attendants to warm up bottles for my little one (who was 7 months at the time) just before we took off and when we heard the warning for the landing. As for keeping them amused Tiff loved looking out the window at everything. I agree with Crystal about getting new toys something that they didn't have before, so its totally new. At that age finger foods are a good idea too I know my daughter is always happiest when her mouth is full! I hope this helps good luck!

when I travel with my children I get them a new toy, they can tend to get bored with there old toys but this will be new and fasinating I also take little crackes and cheerios to keep them busy
