My son has been getting his hair cut regularly since well before his 1st birthday without a problem. He is now 4 and all of a sudden he is scared of getting it cut. I have tried to bribe him with toys, dinner at his favorite restaurant, candy, anything. None of it has worked! He goes as far to get into the barbers chair and then jumps out as soon as they touch his hair with a comb. I have even tried 3 different salons and none of it matters. Any thoughts or ideas?

try role-playing at home. Let him be the "barber" and you can be the "client" then try to get him to take turns. If you make it a game, he may be more willing to do it at the salon. My daughter used to be afraid of getting her hair cut. i talked with her a lot about what they'll do and then i'd let her comb my hair and pretend to cut it (you can either find some pretend scissors or we always used our fingers.) Now she loves to get her hair cut. She sits in the chair like a little lady and chats it up with the stylist. Also I only take her to one lady. Then she knows exactly who she is gonna see and they have some history. I think the more he knows the less afraid he'll be. good luck.
