I am having the same problem with my 2 year old, she will 3 next month, the only time she wants to use the "big girl" potty is right when she waks up and right before she takes a bath other wise she wouldnt care. My auntie gave me an idea to put a plain white poster board on the bathroom wall and let my daughter pick stickers she likes and when she goes potty we are making a big deal about it and the reward is a sticker. its working okay but she still has those moments where she just fights to not using the potty. Good luck

Just wanted to say I started my daughter young too, and she went pee in the potty no problem, we figured she was doing well and #2 would follow soon so we didn't pressure her.... well she was 4 1/2 by the time she stopped going in her underwear!!!! Just because she goes #1, dont' assume #2 will follow with no problems, keep on top of it....

When i was potty training my daughter who is now 3, we made a posterboard with squares on it. When She peed in the potty she got one sticker on her board and 2 for number 2. When she got 10 stickers on the board she got whatever was written on the board for that line, like a trip to the store for a toy, a book, playdoh, and so on. When she filled the entire board up, or when she was fully potty trained she got to go to chuckie cheese. She was potty trained fully within like 3 weeks, and she just forgot about doing stickers. That was the only thing i was worried about, would be a pain if she had to have stickers for the rest of he life lol. She hasnt once peed in the bed either, we just put panties on her and absolutely no pull ups. Pull ups feel too much like a diaper, you can get those shorts with the liners in them for bedtime, if you feel necessary. It works wonders. Hope you can use my advice!! Good luck!!

My daughter will be 2 in November she is completely potty trained now, but I would say at first it is potty training the parents. You have to remind them ALOT. We also never ask if she has to use the potty we just say "okay it's time to go potty" when we would ask she always said no but if we are excited and just take her she loves it(most of the time). There is always good weeks and bad weeks though! Hang in there just keep reminding her and praising her and when she's ready she'll do it! Good Luck!

I have a daughter who will be 2 in a week, and I got her to start using the potty when she was a year and a half. We just started putting her on the actual toilet after she woke up from night time sleep, naps, and right before baths and bedtime. Soon after she realized she liked not having to wear the diaper around. Now, when she needs to go potty she yells "PEE PEE" no matter where we are...but atleast she has the right idea. We are still having a bit of trouble with having her go #2 in the potty, but she is still young, so we aren't pressuring her. I think if you just bring them along with you to the toilet and show them it's what you do, they might go along with it. And of course, make sure they have a potty of their own. Another way, my sister tried with her 3rd child was tell them they can't start school until they learn to use the big kid potty. Just don't give up...they'll give in eventually.

Hi Jessica, My daughter is nearly 5 and she started toilet training at about 18 months. I am a single mother and just could not bear the thought of her falling and hurting herself while i was on the toilet. My bathroom and toilet were in the same room so i would leave the door open, before i knew it everytime i went to the toilet she would follow and sit on her potty. Sometimes she would go and other times she would not. Remember lots of praise for going!!!! However they whole potty idea lasted about two weeks then i had to buy they 'big girls seat' it had two steps handles and it's own seat, just went over the toilet. Good luck with it all, Oh try taking her shopping for 'big girl nickers' she gets to choose the underwear she wants and likes therefore wont like messing them!

For my daughter (she's now 5), we started potty training her at 2 as well an we used gummy bears. She was not given these any other time and she was given 1 for peeing in the potty and 2 for stinkying in the potty. And we put big girl panties on her during the day...she would have accidents but she learned that she would rather have dry clothes than wet ones. :-)
