I am pregnant with my 3rd child and have to have a planned c-section. I have decided to have my tubes tied when they take they baby out. I have a blood disease which prohibits any kind of oral or inserted birth control and my husband and I both HATE using condoms. We know that our family is complete and that we do not want to have any more children. My question is, is Tubal Ligation safe? I thought it was a perfectly normal thing until I read about some other women having problems after having it done. Have any of you had any problems after??

I had a tubal ligation afterr my second child was born. I had csections with both babies so the procedure was done while i was still open. I had no problems.

I don't know from personal experience but my mom got one 20 years ago after having my little sister and never had any problems with it... she said the healing time was really fast and didn't bother her much at all (she said the stitches from her tear during birth were more painful) and she has been baby free since.;. seems to have done the job, even 20 years ago ^_^

Hello I was 22 yrs old when I had mine done after my 2nd kid.I decided that 2 kids were enough for me knowing that I had my first one at 17 yrs old.The procedure was quick and not painful at all recovery was fine as well.I notice after a year that my period was very irregular and very heavy.I started my period at a early age and it was always a couple of days around the same time every month and i wasnt going thru so many sanitary pads as i do now.And cramping become ver irritating especially when I never had them in the past.I also notice that my sex drive went from everyday to not even wanting to sleep in the same bed.I do not regret my decision at all i do regret not researching it more or not asking more questions. But i honetly feel in my heart that this was the right decesion for myself and my kids i have a beautiful daughter and a handsome son that are more than enough for me to handle.

I had a tubal ligation 3 weeks ago, after I had my second child. So far, so good. Recovery hasn't been too bad. I just noticed a slight tugging feeling on my left side where they did the procedure. But that went away over a week ago. It's effective, but you just have to monitor your body for any signs of pregnancy. If you do become pregnant it can mean a higher chance of ectopic pregnancy and you would need surgery to remove the embryo or it could cause serious harm. But it isn't likely. If your hubby is game he can always get a vasectomy. I chose to get my tubes tied since I had a csection, too. Good luck to you!
