I went through the same thing, my doctor said he would not tie my tubes, until I came back for my 6 week check up but luckly he did not deliver me he got called for another delivery and so the doctor who delivered me tied them . You may want to check into another doctor.

I am 26 and have three kids I got my tubes tied. And yes AT TIMES I regret it but for the most part it was a very good decision.

Oh and one more thing, I know like in my state (Michigan) in order for the state insurance to pick up the bill you have to have three kids and be over 25 unless there were complications in any of the pregnancies, just a little info :) But like the other posts it is all up to you, there are pros and cons, but like in my situation I live in a two bedroom apartment right now and I have three kids in one room, luckily they are all boys :)

I dont think you are too young, but you really have to think about it because it's irreversible, I am 27 years old and have three kids, after my third one I had it done, I was 24, I sometimes regret it, but then I think of my youngest, he just turned three today and I dont have the nightly feedings, the diapers changing and everything else that comes with a little one, I guess just think about it, because maybe somewhere down the line you could want another one and it would cost alot, you could get an IUD put in they last for 5 to 10 years depending on which one you pick that could be something to look into to.

My sister had hers done after her third, but she had just turned 30 so docs didn't give her too hard a time of it.

I'm 25 and want mine done. I have 2 kids and one on its way. I don't want any more kids, but I'm too young which i find annoying as i know i wont change my mind. I'm really happy to only have 3 kids.

Quoting Diana:

If you both agree you don't want more children why doesn't he get a vascectomy? Its a non0invasive procedure. I'd check into that.

I agree with this. Vasectomy's are much safer too. There's no hospital time, it's done in the doctor's office.  The recovery time is much shorter too than it would be for you. My hubby's getting it done for me. If we ever do change our minds in the next couple of years he can get it reversed. Don't see that happening for us though, lol, we already have 4 kids.

If you two discussed it together and it's what you both want, then go ahead with it....you wouldn't have to worry about doing anything else for birth control.

I say you may be too young, only if you're not married because once you get married you may want to have a child by your husband. I had the new tubal called an Essure which is harder to be reversed but I had mine did because I had 3 c-sections and was told not to have any more kids. I'm not married yet but I have met the guy that I'm going to marry and hate the fact that it's a very slim chance that we will have a child in common.

If you aren't sure I would say hold off a bit and see. I know that I thought about it when my son was born but felt I hadn't thought it through enough so I went ahead and had the Mirena IUD put in to buy me some time. It's been close to three years and I'm still feeling that I'm done so I am getting my tubes tied within the next couple of months. I am 23 also and I just have to be confident in my decision and know that I'm doing it for me and not anyone else telling me I should or shouldn't. Good luck to you!

Hmmm... I have the same dilemma. I'm 23 and family wants me to get my tubes tied after this one is born. I kinda want to... 3 kids is enough. My biggest worry is that I am going to regret it in a few years when my kiddos are going to school or something. It is totally up to you, obviously, and if you are sure you don't want another kiddo then by all means, get it done. The only thing I can say is that you don't know how you are going to feel in 5 years or so about the whole thing.

it is completely up to u aslong as u have thought about everything i.e wanting more kids, etc as it is not reversable
