How much tummy time should I be doing with my 15 week old baby girl? I have never had a doctor tell me I need to do tummy time but I have seen that lots of moms say it is very important.

i would let her lay on the ground all the time when ever you are not feeding her, or she is sleeping. my little girl loved to be on the ground with toys around she could look at. she started rolling over at 3 months

Let your baby be your guide, but really you need at least 3 times a day, 5-10 minutes each, or the equivalent of. I put my daughter down for 3-5 minutes every hour she was up in the begining, then tried to stretch it out as she got older. And a good thing to do is not turn them over right when they start to fuss, give them about an extra minute, it will help encourage them to turn over or start crawling! My daughter turned over very easily because I'd let her get just a bit frustrated before 'giving in'.

My Dr had us start tummy time at 10 weeks. He said she would let us know when she had enough, but not to exceed 10 minutes. The boppy helped her to enjoy it more. Prop her up on it and put something bright colored on the floor!

I agree with Michelle. Your daughter will let you know when she is tired of tummy time. When she first starts out, she will only do it for a couple of minutes..but then it will increase with time. It is great for them to be on their tummy to build the muscles in their neck, which helps them be able to support their head on their own. It is also good for when your baby starts rolling over in her crib to be able to move her head to breathe. I bought the belly mats with the pillow support that had toys to help keep my daughers interest.

When my son was 4 months the Dr said he needs to have it 3 times a day for 5 min each. My son HATED tummy time, so he'd just fuss the whole time...which was why I hadn't been giving him it, but once the doc said I had to I did. He eventually started liking it, it just took a while. It helped to have some extra padding, besides the carpet, like a play mat. Good Luck!

I always just let my daughter play on her tummy as long as she wanted. She HATED it! As soon as she could start to lift herself with her arms and has since started the whole crawling thing she HAS to be on her tummy!! She'll let you know when she's ha enough of it:o) Good luck!
