My son is just over 2 months old and had umbilical hernia surgery yesterday. He came home the same day but seems to be afraid every time I put him down...even to change his diaper. I feel bad for leaving him for the hour and half he was in surgery and recovery. He is perfectly happy when I'm holding him...we ended up sleeping in the recliner together last night. Isn't he too young to feel abandonment? Or maybe its just the comfort of being close after having his tummy cut open. I'm afraid to let him cry that it will hurt his tummy/incision. Any encouraging advise? Thanks

At that age they dont really have abandonment issues, they just still like to feel cozy. thats why wrapping babies is a huge thing.it mimics being in the womb. and them being on your stomach with their ear on your chest makes them feel comfortable b/c they hear your heart like in the womb as well.

i dont see any problem with a little extra loving for your little guy! wouldnt you want some if you had surgery ;)
