waking in the middle of a nap

My 13 month old daughter will wake up after 30 give or take of napping still very tired. She desperately wants to be held the entire nap time. We have tried to cry it out but she gets hysterical and when I get her after 20 minutes or so it takes forever to calm her down and she is still exhausted! I know that she has been overly spoiled, I would nurse her to sleep when she was younger and let her sleep in my glider. I have broke her of both those habits but we still have this problem. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Have you tried giving her a soother only when she is upset? I don't let Alexander have his paci if he's just running around but if he's super upset he can have it - and we always put one in his crib after he's gone to sleep.

Also have you tried a sling or body carrier? Something that lets munchkin sleep while you're busy around your house?

Alex (1 year old) has issues going down for his nap esp if we've kept him up longer than the "eye-scrubbing" signal suggests. If its your scent that helps soothe her you can put a recently worn shirt in the bed with her so she feels like mummy is there with her.

i suggest depending where she takes her nap just lay her down and sit with her just the presence of a parent is comfort to a child. if that doesn't work just tough it out and let her cry eventually she will learn that when you put her down for a nap it is time to nap not cry..
