I thought you guys should know about this, I'm VERY upset about it. I bought this movie months ago it's called Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears A Who (not the one with Jim Carrey)it's a collection of Dr.Seuss cartoons. Well in the last cartoon called Horton Hatches the Egg! a fish in the cartoon shoots himself in the head after seeing Horton on a boat in the ocean. I was very upset about this because my 2 year old son watched this and it's not right these cartoons are what little kids watch not adults nor teens. This kind of material is not for a 2 year old to watch!!!!!!

not to be negative or anything - but what about the bugs bunny and duffy duck etc cartoons where they are constintally shooting themselves or blowing themselves up! yes I agree that this should have been stated somewhere on the box that there is some mild things such as that, but seriously! As I said earlier I am not trying to be negative or anything and I respect that you dont want your child to watch that but I dont think that this is that bad, they could be watching much much much worse!

Really after having my Father kill himself by shooting himself in the head I do not consider it "mild" I think it's horrible. The last thing I want is to be watching a movie with my child and have a panic attack! What a horrible thing to put in a children's movie.

My child is 14 months, he doesn't watch Bugs Bunny or things like that. He watches Treehouse and other toddler movies. I think the big upset is that she choose Dr. Seuss thinking it would be a true G rated movie without such violence in it. They should have it clearly stated on the box or increase the rating of the extra part of the movie from G to PG!

The anger isn't at the fact it happened, it's the fact there was no warning and it's a terrible subject to have in a children's movie!

I was in NO WAY trying to say that you father killing himself is not a serious issue and that kids should just watch these shows with people/characters killing themselves or eachother and not be tough right and wrong

I personally think that it is the responsibility of the parent to sit the child down and let them know the difference. My nan almost shot my Pa with his hunting gun, I was tought from a very young age never to touch a gun and that any kind of voliance is WRONG

Also I think that it is the different up bringings of the parent, with what happened with your father you would see somethig like a figh shooting himself as a reminder of what happened to your father and as such be more mindful of the dnagers that this can do and teach your children that in a different way to what I do

I tell my daughter the wrongs and rights. She sees for example Bugs Bunny shooting someone and tells me 'mummy thats wrong, he shouldnt do that' and we talk about it

I dont let her watch the programs along and if i think they are going to far I turn them off and put something else on like The Wiggles or what not

I am sorry if my opinion offended you.

instead of focusing on what the producers of these movies are doing wrong maybe we should explain to our children the difference between tv and reality, and how tv is not reality and you should not act or mimic the things they do on tv. yes at two years it is a little hard to explain that, however your two year old isn't going to attempt to kill themselves because they seen a fish do it on tv.

a situation like chelsea's is a little different not every one has a family member who has done that and i understand that being very emotional for you and your children but you cannot shelter them for ever and it is much better to explain it to them then have the kids at school, when they start school, fill their heads with inaccurate information.

i was thinking pretty much exactly what you wrote as i was reading the others. i mean personally it woudnt bother me but i guess i can see how it would bother others. i find a lot of disney movies are violent. the lion king is one. my nephew sobbed throughout that movie. 101 dalmations as well and they call eachother idiots and imbusals (not sure how to spell it). i do agree there are much worse things they could be watching!

Thanks for the warning, I think the thing to think about would be talking to your kids about what they watch. We always watch tv shows and movies long before our kids get to see it so we know ahead of time. We already knew about the Fox and the Hound but we thought that because it is still a good movie that once they were ready they could watch it. they were upset at first by what happened but now they love the movie.

Always pre-screen tv and movies before letting your kids watch it so you know.

I agree with you Kate, there are alot of cartoons out there that are about two animals trying to harm each other. There should of been some warning on the dvd but it doesnt suprise me at all that this material was in a programme aimed at children.

Wow, that's terrible! I think they took it too far with that one. Very disappointing considering it's a DR.SEUSS cartoon!

Your right, I have also seen that. I don't let my son watch that one anymore because of that.

Thank you soo much for the heads up. My Father actually commited suicide that way and even I wouldn't want to see that on a cartoon!

Wow...you're right, that's not appropriate for any small children! What were they thinking?!
