My baby is 9 months old now and he has stayed sick since he was born...the dr thinks he has asthma but is sayin it is still to early to diagnose him with it yet. When he was born he had yellow juandice really bad and almost had to have transfusions. He was under 4 photherepy lights plus the light on top of him and the bed. Since then he has had strep throat rsv mulitple times and trouble breathing still....does anyone else have this problem?

Asthma can be diagnosed in children that have repetitive/chronic respiratory infections, however, Asthma could be too broad. My son was diagnosed with Asthma at 1.5 years old.

I am so sorry to hear that your son is having such a hard time. I pray for some answers for your family.

No, but I would check your house for mold. I'm not saying that is the problem, but I would definitely consider it, Mold could be a causing factor of why your baby is sick all the time.

He is too young to test/diagnose w/asthma, but I had/have a slightly similar problem w/my daughter. She was born w/a chronic runny nose and snoring. At 3 months she had her 1st ear infection and they were chronic after that. She would end one medication and the ear infection would be cleared up, w/in the next wk or two she would get another ear infection, it was the same repetition. She had skin graphs done on her foot/ankle the day before she turned 6 months old (granted not a health issue, but from an accidental burn). She had her second set of bilateral ear tubes and an adenoidectomy at 8-10 months old, the adenoidectomy only cleared up her snoring and slightly helped the runny nose. She had an x-ray some where around this time and we discovered that she has a narrow air way. She coughs all the time, especially if she has been talking a lot (which she is a girl so of course she talks all the time lol), running, "wrestling" w/anyone, etc. At about 2 yrs old she had what I believe was an asthma attack, but it was her first "episode" so they would not do further testing or diagnose her w/asthma. She was having labored breathing and when we arrived at our Children's hospital her oxygen level was only 30%. Did a breathing treatment and sent us on our way! She will be 5 in Jan. and still has the chronic runny nose, we have not been given an explanation for that. We have tried allergy medications for it and those did nothing. She is currently on Singulair which seems to help a bit w/the night time cough (it's given before bed). Now, she is complaining of her stomach hurting and feeling like she is going to throw up, but never does. If I try to play w/her at all she starts a coughing fit and ends up crying from it. I'm so sick of seeing my baby girl like this it has been almost 5yrs so I know how you feel! She has had coxsackie (sp?)/hand,foot,&mouth disease numerous times. Along w/other illnesses. She was always behind on her shots due to being sick and I guess they can't get their shots while they are sick.

I'm sorry I don't have any advice really, but just continue to give your bubby lots of love, support, and cuddles!
I hope you get answers or your bubby no longer gets sick sooner then 5yrs from now!!! It is a tough road to go down, but baby just needs you and daddy to help him through! I wish your family the best of luck!
