you have a JOINT account that you don't have access too??

the point of a joint account is that you jointly have access to the money. your husband has no right to keep the child support money- or any money your household has away from you. if your name is on the account you can go to the bank and access the money. what happens between you and your husband after could be an issue, but i would be concerned that he is withholding money. that's not a partnership, honestly from the little amount of information given, in my opinion it sounds abusive.

Yeah, I must admit, I don't understand how this is a joint account if you don't have access to it. It certainly sounds like his behaviour in this respect is abusive. Do you ever get access to ANY money? Do you have your own account?

Tell your husband that if he won't let you access this money that you will set up your own personal account and have the payments deposited there. I'm assuming that the child support is from your past relationship, not your husbands.
