We are looking for original girl names, we don't know yet what we are having, (but I am so hoping it is a girl!!) and we have a son named Zackary William. If we have a boy my husband has the name picked out already, but we don't have a girl name. We don't want anything that has been in the top 20.. we would love to hear your suggestions!!

If my son had been a girl his name would have been Alaizabel Rayne. I also like Anastasia, Natalie, Aubriana, Jessamyn, Jesslin, Kaia, Eluria, Kaylinne, and Lydia, among countless others. I love girl names :)

I don't have any suggestions, but I can tell you how I came up with my daughter's name. While pregnant I really wanted a unique name so I took my name, Mallory Amber, and took the first two letters of my middle name Am and the last three of my first name ory and cam up with hers. Amory. For a while I was going to do Ambory but it didn't roll off the tongue as well :) I paired it with a pretty common middle name (Nicole) in case she wanted to go by something a little more bland when she got older. I also have a friend that combined her sisters names for her daughters first name and gave her her husbands middle name as her middle name to add even further character. Good luck, and don't stress too much. No matter what you choose it will be beautiful.

Think of flower, animal, and tree names in nature. Flowers like Lavendar, animals like Fawn, trees like Hazel (hazelnut tree).

You could make up a name of your own. Something that sounds cool, and then you guys will have a really neat back story to tell your daughter.
Falyntar, Zyldna, T'nila, Vesin, Tancala, Tarenthal.
Just have fun with it.

My sister has 3 girls and one on the way - Eleanore Luthien, Anne Elizabeth and Emmaline Mae, I also like Evelyn, Alayna, Madelyn and Sophia. My name is Bethany - I'm not sure what's in the top 20 but I always like to pick something that has a neat meaning.

http://www.babynames.com/ has some fun suggestions but also you can build a list and have people vote on it. I easily posted it to my facebook page and all my friends and relatives voted. Of course we have decided on Anika for a girl which is not even on the list. But James for a boy was rated highly and it's our favorite too. We got Anika from the book "Cool Names for Babies" by Pamela Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz. Then we looked it up and found out it's Hebrew for "grace of God" so we love it, since it is only by grace that we got pregnant at all.

We already have a baby girl and I named her Emma Grace... but if we have another baby and it ends up being a girl, I want a unique name that is not heard very often and I fell in love with Ainsleigh (Ainsley) Hope!

This is just my situation but I will share with you so hopefully it helps you. I have 2 boys and then a girl. So I decided that I would name her a very common name (so i can't help you on unique names) Samantha so that if she becomes a tom boy she can choose to be called Sam. With an older boy sibling she may choose to be the princess of the house or a tom boy and do whatever the boy does. So when thinking for a name, use what you know. Were you a tom boy or a princess? Do you want a name that can get a nickname of a boy-ish name or a really princess name? Hope those questions help on narrowing down hundreds of names :-)

If we were pregnant with a girl the name we picked out was Briar. The baby name book says it is french for Heather and since that is my name we thought it was kind of neat.

Quoting Lacey:

Hey, we just found out we're having a boy, and I already had 2 names picked out for girls. Maybe these will help, I seem to be a boy producing mama.

Addison (Addie for short); Abigail (Abbie) ~this one is my favorite.

Our son is due January 10th, when are you due?

I have 2 girls and 1 boy. My girls are Kayleigh Lynn and Kierren Elisabeth. They are 9 and 7. My son is Lincoln Zander. He is going to be 1. The name I had picked for him had he been a girl is Cadence Joelle. I would have called her Cady Jo for short. Boys names were the hardest for me! Good luck.
