How much weight did mums gain during their pregnancy? This is my second pregnancy and I'm 25 weeks and have only gained 8lb. At a 20 week scan he was above average weight but when I had my uterus measured at 24 weeks I was measuring 23 weeks. I'm really concerned that I'm not gaining enough weight to help my baby thrive :( could my small weight gain be affecting him? Have mothers had a small weight gain but had a healthy babies weight? I should add that I put on around 25lb with my first son and he weighed 7lb8oz on birth.

When I first got pregnant I weight 125lbs and i'm 5'8 in height and by the end of the pregnancy i had gained only 25 lbs and I had a healthy 6 lb baby girl. the doctors knew through out my pregnancy that i would have a small baby, As long as your eating healthy foods then i think theres nothing to worry about. I had a friend who also only gained 25 lbs and she gave birth to a 9 lb baby, so dont be worry about it, if your doctor says everything is ok then enjoy the fact that youll be back to your prepregnancy weight in no time :)

Call your midwife and ask if she is concerned and if so about what. They understand we worry about things and sometimes just need reassurance.

My midwife is encouraging me to try increase my intake, I'm already eating a wide variety of food, mostly healthy but I don't shy away from crisps or chocolate if I so want. She's not made any extra appointments to monitor me but it conserns me that she wants me to try eatting more!

I am 5ft 5inch tall and weigh 180 pounds. In my first pregnancy I simply ate healthy, but I had to eat every 2-3 hours or would get dizzy and lightheaded. I gained 18 pounds and my son was born weighing 9 pounds 1 oz.
I am now 30 weeks pregnant. I started my pregnancy at 180 pounds again and so far I have gained 7 pounds. Again, I have eaten a variety of foods but haven't refrained from anything (just smaller portions if less healthy foods). My daughter is going to be a big baby again, the doctor says most possibly even slightly bigger than her brother.
If your doctor thinks your baby is thriving, I wouldn't worry too much about how much weight you gain. On the bright side, it's going to be easier to shed it once your baby is around :)

My first pregnancy I put on about 60lbs!!! My daughter was 7lbs and 7 ounces. This time I put on 32 lbs and my son weighed 7 pounds 12.5 ounces. In seven weeks with breastfeeding I have lost it all!!! Now I just gotta keep it off!!!

I gained around 30 pounds and my daughter was 5lbs 3 oz and thank G-d she is a healthy 9 month old. Once you have the baby it really does all melt off if you continue to eat healthy. Your doctor is probably monitoring you so if she or he feels your weight gain is not good enough she or he will tell you.

Pre pregnancy I weighed only 110lb and I'm 5ft7. My midwife has advised me to increase my intake but I really do eat quite a lot! It's all changed since my first born 4 and half years ago!!
