I suggest you host a small party now and can throw a big party when he turns two or three so that at least he understands that it is all for him only. He is too young to understand what the celebrations are all about and whatever you do, he might not be able to enjoy.

My daughters birthday is sept 25th so ive been trying to think of some ideas...so far i got that we are going to do it at the house with family and friends it is going to be blues clues themed and we are going to have spagetti for dinner that way she can enjoy it as well as everyone else. we are going to get her a ball pit because my nephew has one and she carrys the balls around everywhere she goes so we figured this way she can just spend hours playing with 100 balls and not just one

i had a big birthday for both my kids firsts. its more about celebrating that you made it through the first year haha. id limit the time though and make it when your son doesnt nap so you know he will be able to handle it and wont be cranky and sleepy. for a kid just starting to walk i would get something he can push along to help him work out how to walk. that kind of thing really helped my son :) hope i was some help :)
