What childhood fears do you still have?

With all the heated conversations going on right now I thought I would start a conversation that is a little more fun. What were your childhood fears and which ones do you still have?

I am still afraid of the dark! I know that this may seem silly to some but during the day I am not scared of Ghosts or whatnot but at night I definitely am! how pathetic, right?

I am also totally squeamish of spiders and mice.

What about you, Ladies?

I too am afraid of the dark. I am so afraid that something is always behind me and going to grab me. I have to walk up the stairs sideways so I can see if anything is behind me. SOOO pathetic..I know. I feel ridiculous when I do it but I cant help it. I dont feel so weird knowing that most of you have the same kind of fear.

I am also petrified of bugs. I completely panic when I see one.

lol well im also one who hates the dark and at night i cant stand walking past the stairs cause i have on my mind that if someone is standing at the bottom you wont be able see them so all the lights get turned on and i still have nightmares if i watch horror films to the point if i have one and i then hear a creeck in the house i just freeze and cant move,i also hate spiders, wasps, bee and daddy long legs lol, my partner laughs his head off at me but he says thats what makes him love me more.

Totally the dark! But I am so morbid that I will watch scary movies alone at night if my husband is on location or fishing, and then stay up until I almost pass out. I also freak out when I check on the kids and think something will come out from under the bed....

I hate being left alone at night. My uncle used to live in our basement and when my mom went to work at night he was supposed to watch us but he never did. It still bothers me especially since i move out to a farm. If my husband is working late or has a meeting in town. I lock the door, close all the blinds, and turn on all the lights. I jump at every little sound. Especially since i watched that movie called the strangers, that movie were the 3 people wear the masks. That was a huge mistake I still think people are watching me through my windows lol.

megan, i'd hardly say that was a strange phobia, bless u for being struck by lightning, i am so scared cos when i was 16 i was in the house by myself, and there was a horrid storm and the lights were flashing...scary when ur scared of the dark, i rang my mum, my sister, my mum's best friend, and they all made their way to my house(it was snowing and there was really awful traffic) it took them all around 2 hrs to get to me, by which time the storm had stopped. i felt like such a div as they'd all been stuk in their cars for hours just for me...oops!

and jessica, so with u on looking out of dark windows, i swear someone's just gonna jump up and scare me or something! eeeeeeeek

this is the best convo EVER! i thought i was on my own with these fears!!!! x

I am still scared of getting kidnapped. I have an irrational fear of zombies... even though i really DON'T think they ever have or will or could exist. I only think about them after scary movies though. I am afraid of big dogs and spiders and especially beetles. I am deathly afraid of lightning, (I hide with my baby in the bathroom with all of the power off till it stops) but i was struck once so i guess that isn't so irrational.

And i laugh at myself for being such a wimp and a scared-y pants for all of it!

Like so many others on here spiders scare me, as well as pretty much any "creeky crawly" thing.
Bees and wasps are another fear of mine. I got a bumble bee stuck in my hair when i was about 4. To this day when I can hear the buzzing of a bee or wasp I start looking to see where to go to get away from the noise and not get too close.

Holy cow, yes!  I am such a retard when it comes to bees and wasps!  I run!  HAHA.  When I lived in montana we moved to a spot that was infested with yellowjackets and they were so mean!  they would literally chase you just to sting you!  I got stung so many times that it doesn't even really hurt anymore... so why am I still a spaz?  There was one in my garden last week and I had to run away.  Tripped over my dog and everything.  So glad no one saw me!  haha

i so know what u mean bout being a spaz! screaming. flinching, and dancing around! if i think bout it, i think oh there only small, just keep still, then one comes near me and im flapping screaming and generally making an actual tit out of myself!!! x

i am so afraid of the dark. . and something grabbing me from under the bed, i sometimes leap off my bed lol. . .of course i don't like bugs, well i wouldn't mind them if i know they wont bite me. . .and im okay with ghost, they are more than welcome in my house but when they start moving stuff they got to go, that freaks me out. . i don't like the t.v. on when its fuzzy because of "the ring" and when i was prego with aidan (my daughter) i went to see the ring 2 and they told the story of the little girl and her mom tried to drown her and when they asked her she said "because my baby told me to'' i freaked out and thought my baby was going to tell me to kill her, but everyone just looked at me like i was the dumbest person lol

not exactly childhood fear, but it started when I was 14. I walked into an electric fence during a thunderstorm. Now, I dont leave my house during one, and I'll close all windows, and hide in my bedroom.

Abby, Savannah, and Brittany,

As for the ghost fear...I can understand and relate to that one as well. I won't go into the many unexplained and weird things that have happened to me over the years...Don't want to scare anyone :)

After we bought our current home, a neighbor mentioned that the previous owner's wife had passed away in the home...its a little freaky to actually know that someone has died in the home I live in.

Too lighten the mood I'll try and give you a laugh...:)

I grew up on a farm, in the traditional old 2-story farm house. When I was in grade school we had central air put in on the main floor, which means the duct work ran directly under the floor. The main duct work started in the potato cellar we had under the house that had a door to the outside where cats could get in.
One night, when i was a young teen, I was home alone. I was taking a bath when I heard this awful scratching against medal and then this horrible echoing howling noice....it scared the half the death the first time I heard it. Then when it started again, i listened closer and realized a cat had gotten into the medal duct work for the centeral air unit and it was echoing throughout the house. Thankfully not to long after that my dad came home and rescued the kitty. :)

TERRIFIED of spiders! I cant even look at pics of them. It sounds stupid but as soon as i see one i have this feeling through my body like i need to scream. I get goose bumps and i feel as though i am going to vomit. Crazy huh! Basically anything that has long spider like crawling legs i cant stand! My 2nd biggest fear is divorce. My partner and i arent even engaged yet and i am terrified of it! My mum has been divorced twice, 1 of my older sisters has been divorced once and another older sister is going through a divorce now. (god that makes my family sound awful but non of it is thier wrong doing!) Which is why i think im so afraid it will happen to me. Anyone else share this fear with me? And ladies no fear is silly! (unless its fairyfloss or something like that!)

I'm definately with you on divorce! My fiance has proposed to me but wants to know why i wont marry him right away. I keep telling him that i dont wanna get married just to get a divorce. How dumb huh? I feel terrible because i love him to death we've been together for 4 years and have a beautiful 10 month old little boy. But i'm so scared that IF/When we get married it will end in divorce and i DO NOT want that!! My mom and dad went through a divorce when i was in 4th grade or so. I DO NOT want to put my baby through what i had to go through.. Which i know everyone is different but it still freaks me out..

Oh, now I feel better!  I know!  Doesn't it make you feel so silly?  How am I going to explain to my kiddos that there aren't such things as monsters in the closet or under the bed when I'm still scared of them?  I dont even like to let my feet hang over the bed!  ha ha.

Moths also!  I read Phantoms by Dean Koontz when I was really young and have been creeped out my moths ever since!  ha ha

I'm scared my daughter will see ghosts when she's older (she's only 5 wks now). I saw a few when I was young. We live in a house we think is haunted, we have a game room with a pool table and no one goes in it because we hear the pool balls hitting each other at night. We did have a 2 yr old living with us. We have a central vaccuum we have to go into this really small, dark room down some wooden steps to plug in. The 2 yr old would come running to me, point in the small room when I was in it saying "see him brittany, u see him right there" i STILL get scared going in there, and i look straight at what i have to look at and run out real quick

I'm so with you on that one!  My oldest son has always had night terrors ever since he was a couple weeks old and it scares me to death!  I have lived in haunted houses in the past and am so worried that he will see things, too!  Sometimes I think he does, but obviously i can't be sure!  A lot of people think that ghosts aren't real but I think they are.  We lived in a totally creepy house once when I was little and too many strange things happened.  When we moved out we found out that the previous owner had hung himself in the attic.  Creepy.

are u 2 trying to scare me????????/ never seen one and the thght of it makes me wanna cry(im 22 but when it comes to fears i act bout 5)

my step daughter used to speak to a "little girl" and a "little boy" and it used to scare the hell out of me! i cannot go anywhere by myself in the dark, or be in my flat alone at night as i swear im gonna see something he he! it sounds so silly when i write it down, but i get so scared!

an ex used to live in the middle of nowhere and i used to drive down a pitch black road at night, and drive as fast as i could cos i was scared! and another ex used to work night shifts, so i made him buy me 2 cats and id sleep with the lights on.... im sooooooooooooooo sad arent i? he he x

spiders, centipedes, cockroaches, you name it lol (lets just say the only bug i like is the ladybug and the caterpillar!) but i am proud to say that i killed my own spider the other day (who cares if it was only the size of an ant LOL)
i also have to double check all the doors and windows and look under all the beds before i go to bed. i don't know why tho, just always been a bit paranoid :P
also, ever since i heard a ghost story about how some things only show up in mirrors, i cannot be looking at a mirror when i turn on the lights in the room :P

I still get nervous in the dark and am afraid of the dark. I'm also really scared of scary movies but I think that's because when I was 12 my mom's husband held me down and held my eyes open and forced me to watch one.

I often wonder how I'm supposed to help my baby not be scared, but I guess that's what Daddy's for :D He makes me feel safe and he will for her too.
