What is the best thing for heart burn and dot say tums?

i never got heartburn before i was pregnant. i got it bad when i was pregnant so the doctor put me on prilosec otc and it work great. i didnt have heartburn anymore. they tried me on zantac and it didnt help at all. but i could eat anything i wanted and not get heartburn. but i dont get heartburn now that i am not pregnant.

my son was born with hardly any hair. and i had heartburn bad

Have you tried gaviscon??? My doctor suggested it for me, it's available over the counter.

I get midnight heartburn, yuk!!

I had such bad heartburn when I was preggo. First I tried toast/crackers really didn't work. Than I tried having a big glass of milk, worked wonders. I would have a big glass just before bed to help me get to sleep, I got my heartburn mostly at nighttime before I laid down.

When I got heartburn I would just drink a big glass of milk. It worked for me but everyone is different

i have heartburn. i was on nexium and its safe if your pregnant, tums dont work for me either. but pepto, but that didnt help me either. but its safe if pregnant. if your not pregnant than zantac my husband takes for his. it depends on how bad it is and if you have acid reflux. if its acid reflux i would go to the dr and get put on some pills, if its just heart burn not caused by reflux then pepto or mylanta

Don't eat, or drink things like soda, at least three hours before bed. And, when you sleep, prop at least two pillows behind your head (just to elevate your head a bit). Little things like this will help decrease the acid reflux that causes heartburn.

depends if your pregnent or not - because it changes why you get heartburn. keep a food dairy and see which foods give you the worse heartburn and avoid thoes foods (the worse is usually dairy products, chocolate, caffiene, ciggaretts, alcohol, heavy starchy foods like potatoes). also try 1 tablespoon of cider vinegar in a little warm water at meal times, especially for protein rich meals (non pregnent heartburn is ususally because of LOW stomach acid and the vinegar helps you to digest properly (which is why tums/ mylanta often dont give proper relief -they actually make it worse in the long run as it supresses your digestive system and stops you being able to absorb nurtients properly) eat loads of vegetables (about half your diet should be veges) and good quality whole foods and avoid refined white flours/sugar, processed foods and junk. also dont eat for a couple hours before going to bed (when i was preg i got heartburn at night when i lay down, and this helped ) and when it happens try drinking warm (not hot or cold) herbal teas with chamomile, peppermint, lemon balm or lemon & ginger. or aloe vera juice

Tums never worked for me either!! But my doc suggested Mylanta...and that helped alot!

i had the worst heartburn when i was preggers, never had it before then. nothing worked. all i could do is stay sitting and drink water or milk. my husband takes these pills called prilosec and they seem to help him alot. but he has to take one every day to keep it away. if your pregnant or breastfeeding you should probably talk to your doctor first.
