I have tried so hard to teach my 3 almost 4 year old her colors but it isn't working. We would do red and green light in the car (red means stop, green means go, what color is that?) and she would get it that car ride but the next it would be the same thing all over again. Any suggestions?

Lol...girl it brought back some memories!!!!...I taught my 3yr old with M&m's lol....if he wanted to eat them he had to get the color correct!...try it & see if that works!...everyone has their own ways, but it dosen't hurt to try other ppl ways!

That's an awesome idea!!! I'll have to try that:)

I am also having trouble teaching my four year old his colors. I tried games, flash cards, clothes and everything but he seems to just want to guess. Please help!

My twins have known their colors for awhile now. I always ask what color shirt they're wearing or what color the fruit they are eating you know ? Point it out daily and he she will get the hang and have fun rather than just a color wheel or easy baby books. I always treat my kids like they are older and they understand everything I say and they're only 35 months old. And even though he she won't tell you, that doesn't mean they don't know they are choosing when to say it because they like being the boss too.

My 22 month little girl loved puzzles. We got a fish puzzle and all the fish were different colors. Since she knew what a fish was, she started to realize that we were adding another word with the fish, the color. Before she could talk, she could point to colors that we asked her about. It was pretty amazing. We did a lot with crayons like Jen mentioned as well! Good luck, it will come with enough practice from mom!

I taught my daughters with everything. Walking down the street, Green tree. In the house red juice etc. Make it a constant color conversation they pick it up quick and start saying it back like mommie look at that blue sky. Also the I spy game in the car is wonderful.

I taught my daughter with crayons. She loves to color so we named each crayon as she colored. We also used shoes and clothes and everything really. It did take her about 4-6 months before she finally caught on, but my daughter is only 2 and still learning.

That is a great idea, will definitely try that cause I have tried flash cards and it just doesn't seem to work for her right now.
