The safest first foods to start with are: sweet potatoes, avocado, rice cereal, peas, zucchini, squash, apples and bananas. When introducing a new food, make sure you wait 1 week before introducing another. This is in case of food allergies; If your LO has a reaction to something, you will know what it is.



Some low risk foods you could try too are: applesauce, apricots, beets, carrots, peaches, pears and plums.



Foods that you should avoid completely in the first year are: honey, peanut butter, nuts, citrus fruits, raw strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, corn, egg whites, whole milk-as a drink, wheat and shellfish/crustaceans since theses are high allergy foods.



To each their own but I hope this helps you. It is always best to consult your doctor when introducing foods.
