I started my son at about four months and at 6 months I just pureed whatever we were eating for him(we tend to eat very healthy.and mostly organic,.especially if we knew we were feeding it to him)

I skipped rice cereal all together. My pediatrician said that I could start with any single foot item I wanted as long as I stuck with it for a full week before moving on to the next item and I did not have to start with cereal. He said it doesn't matter if you start with fruit before veggies either since babies at such a young age will eat whatever you put in front of them as long as they are hungry. We started on bananas moved to applesauce and now we are on sweet potatoes. We've been at it a month with no problems; she was 4 1/2 months when we started. We have a ton of fun and get food all over her, luckily she loves bath time also.

I started really runny rice cereal mixed with breast milk at 5 months and I started introducing fruit and veggie baby food at 6 months

i started giving Hudson cereal at about 7 weeks old. i know that sounds very early but he had a hard time keeping it down until it was a certain thickness. i asked my doc and he was the one who encouraged me. it absolutely helped. he is going to be 4 months old next weeks and i just started giving him some baby food

I started giving my son rice cereal at around 4 1/2 months, and actual baby food at 5 months. He's 7 1/2 months now and recently started stage 2 foods. He's perfectly proportionate according to growth charts, and is in the 75th percentile.

my daughter is 12 weeks and we got the okay from the doctor to give her rice ceral...to start we are to just mix a small amount in her bottle in the morning and at night...once shegets usd to this we can put it in all of her bottles as well as try spoon feeding it to her....baby food can be given around four months...gerber has a simple guidline, when babys can sit with assistance theyy can have stage one foods and cerals...gerber labels their babyfood by numbers....stage 2 food can be given when they are sitting on their own, and stage three when they are crawling....ask your doctor before starting anything though!

My doctor told me to wait for signs from my son that he wasn't getting enough to eat... like being whiny/cranky and always wanting a bottle... for Jake that happened around 3 1/2 months so I started the rice cereal at night and did that for about two weeks and at 4 months he went on baby food and down to 3 bottles a day.

I started my son on cereal when he was four months. They say to give your baby "first foods" when they are able to sit supported. I started my son on first foods and about 5 1/2 months. Then he should be able to have second foods when they can sit on their own. Every baby is different. Ask your doctor, they'll be helpful!

I never did cereal. I went strait to mushy fruits that they could feed themselves at 6 months with my oldest and 7 months with my youngest.

I started my son on solids at 5 1/2 months... I started with rice cereal in very small amounts (those things constipate) then started introducing meat and vegetables. In Alberta, the recommencdations are to start with iron-fortified cereal and meats around 6 months since babies have used up all the iron reserves they were born with by that time. If you start earlier than 6 months just stick with only cereal until his system is mature enough to digest veggies and meats. I make my own purees for my son and it's generally well received and he hasn't had any digestion problems so far from the solids. (chicken, wax beans, sweet potatoes, avocado, carrots, peas so far)

um with my oldest i followed the doc recommendations. 4 months for the cereal. 5-6 for the food. my youngest though seemed content with formula for the longest time so i didnt start him on baby cereal till he was just about 6 months, which by then he didnt want anyways cause he wanted flavor lol. he did baby food for about 2 months then discovered the food that we eat tasted better so i ended up giving away 20 cans of baby food to a friend of mine who also had a baby.

I gave my daughter rice cereal 1 week before 4 months too. That was because she was hungry all the time and the milk was'nt enough. I spoon fed her in her high chair and she seemed to like it I am not going to try baby food until she is 6 months though.
