I usually had irregular periods. but they got pretty regular after I was off birth control for a year. so for four months my period was always on the 20th. until July. I didn't start until the first week of August. I found out at the end of August iwas pregnant. do yu think I was late because I was already pregnant, or do yu think I could have gotten pregnant between the time I was late and I started? The doctors went by my missed period & said I didn't get pregnant until August 22. I really need to kno if I could have gotten pregnant between July 20th and the first week of August, or if being pregnant caused me to be late.

Nope...

This article explains why you don't get your period if you're pregnant.

http://www.babycenter.com/404_can-you-ge...

"Menstruation only happens when you're not pregnant: Each month, your uterus grows a thick blood-rich lining in preparation for an egg to embed there. If you don't get pregnant that month, you shed this tissue and blood – that's your menstrual period.

But once an egg embeds in the uterine lining, hormones tell the blood-rich tissue to stay intact to support the growing baby. And you won't shed it and start having your period again until your pregnancy is over."

If it really was your period you got pregnant after it or else you wouldn't have gotten your period. If you really think you got pregnant before then, it could have been spotting which they say is fairly common in early pregnancy. Although most women ovulate 14 days after the first day of their period, I know stress or sickness can postpone ovulation which in turns postpones your period.
