I moved my daughter to a toddler bed when she was 18 months...But it depends on the child..If your son is stil content in a crib and doesn't try to climb out then just keep him in there...remember whe you move to a toddler bed you have to worry about them geting out in the middle of the night!

It all depends on the child. I would say buy it for him and set it up. If he is getting out of his crib then you should be using it, if he's fine in his crib then let him sleep in it at night but for naps and story time(if you have it) put him into the bed, but make sure you have a rail up. I asked my health nurse this question as well. She told me any where between 13-24mths is fine to put them into a toddler bed, as long as they can't fall out. hope this helps!

my little sister turned 3 in July and that's when switched from her crib to a bed. i think it all depends on how they take to the new bed. mom finally just made her do it and she ended up loving the bed but now she's constantly getting up and waking my mom up. it's all about safety though so if you do it make sure you get the guards to keep him from rolling off.
