Yep. DId it to my son the day he turned one, he didnt like regular milk, so we had to add chocolate and strawberry flavor, just add a little less each bottle, and bam before you know it there drinking regular milk.

We breastfed until about 7 months, gave her formula until 10 months and then started introducing milk slowly around this time. By 1 she was completely on milk, and off the bottle. This worked out well for her.

Quoting Natalia:

I breastfed my daughter until eight months when she decided she no longer wanted breastmilk. We put her onto formula and she is now 20months and still have 400 mls a day, 200 at each bedtime. I want to give her formula until she's two as this is how long I wanted to breastfeed

If I had to formula feed I would have continued to use it for atleast 18 months, but in a cup not a bottle after 12 mos.

I didn't have any "magic" theory but gave my kids formula up until their first birthday. Their pedi said by the time they were 15 months, they needed to be totally off of baby food also so we fed more table food to keep them full and just switched directly to whole milk in a sippy. We didn't water it down...only warmed it slightly(not warm but about room temp) for the first coulpe of days becasue they weren't used to the coldness. The pedi also told use that when we switched to whole milk to not give more than 20 oz per day. As for the bottle, they got one the night before their birthday, and then they were gone. I think cold turkey helps better than trying to ween them off. They had a fit the first time they thought it was time for a bottle and after that it was totally forgotten! Good luck to you!

i was told by the health nurse formula until 12 months and then cows milk, water the cows milk down first though until they get used to it because it could be to heavy on their little tums.

I want to give her formula until she's two as this is how long I wanted to breastfeed and there's so much more goodness in it but you can start cows milk at one. Try mixing a bit of formula with a bit of cows milk and slowly use less and less formula until it's all cows milk. It could take a few weeks but that way you can watch for any allergies she may have and it shouldn't affect her poos to much.

My son just turned one and I must have been very lucky because we had no problems but I started giving him water in a sippy cup at like 7 or 8 months so he could get used to it. Then about a month or two before he turned one I tried giving him things that had whole milk in them like yogurt and other dairy products. He had no reaction so I just started replacing feedings with milk and gradually got him on only milk. He likes it though so it was a pretty easy transition.
