When should my kids stop bathing together?

Hi, all! I have a daughter who will be 5 in July and a son who will be 4 in May (10 months difference in age), and they currently bathe together on a regular basis. I don't have a problem with it because they don't make a big deal over their differences, and they enjoy playing with their foam cars and stuff in the tub (usually a half hour at a time!). Plus, I can't imagine having to extend bath time to over an hour total from clothes off to jammies on if I were to separate them, but it seems that it is uncommon practice anymore to bathe siblings of opposite gender together. I'm sure I was at least 5 and my brother 6 when we stopped bathing together and neither of us are mentally scarred or anything. So when do I have to split them up? I could just shower them individually, which would take about 10 minutes a kid from start to finish, but I hate to do that because the so enjoy tub time. Help! And if I do split them up, how do I explain to them why this needs to happen? Obviously they are just innocent children and have no idea why bathing together could raise any sort of controversy.

to me its a personal choice. If you want to bath them together do so until one of them askes for privacy. I bathed with cousins of both sexes until we were between 6 and 9 and we're all okay!!!

In some cultures families bath together even into teen years and adult hood!!!!!

As long as you and your kids are ok with it, I bathed with my brother till I was 8. Right now my 4 year old son and my 2 year old daughter take showers or bath's with me everyday.

I asked the Dr this very question yesterday. My kids are younger then yours (3 and 19 mths) but they LOVE to play in the tub together. He said there is no issue doing this as long as they are ok with it. If one child asks to have privacy thats when it should stop. Like you said, I bathed with my brother till I was 6 or 7 and I am not scarred lol.

I bath my son and daughter together. They are exactly 18 months apart, my son being 3 and daughter being 1 (2 in November) I don't see the problem with it at all. I think the time to stop is when they start getting too curious about body parts. I love bathing them together because it doesn't take as long, and they enjoy playing in the bubbly water together. Nothing wrong with it at all.

I think they should stop bathing together when one of them raises concerns about bathing with their sibling. As long as you are in the room with them while they bath, and they don't show any issue with bathing together, I don't think there is anything wrong with allowing them to continue bath time together.
