I know views on this topic vary from "as young as four months" to "only when they can decide". I am thinking sooner than later...

Just curious on what you'd do with your daughter and getting her ears pierced?

We pierced our dauughters ears as soon as we could get them done. She was 3 months and let me tell you, if you are gonna do it, the sooner the better. There was a 6 month old who got her ears piereced before us and she was squirming all over the place. At 3 months, they are easy to hold down and they don't jerk as much. Our daughter actually cried longer for when she recieved her shot rather than her ears pierced. Also, she never messes with her ears. Just make sure you change the earrings every so often after they heal. With giving baths and all, the earrings get dirty. Also, make sure you invest in good earrings. Babies are more sensitive to metals than we are. Thanks for reading! :)

I would be worried they would get caught on something and get ripped out while she is playing

I have to say if and when you have a daughter, they WILL want their ears pierced at some point in their life. Do you know one girl that doesn't?

My daughter will be allowed to have them when she is old enough to understand how its done and still wants it done.

personally i dont think its right for babies to have their ears pierced at such a young age ... id leave it until they can make up their own mind ... not just that, id rather not risk a young baby having piecings as it is soo easy for them to get infections and what not ... id rather not risk that at all.

However remember this is your child, do what you think is right, having to ask peoples opions on here says to me that your not too sure and having doubts, just go with your gut instinct :) and you wont go wrong :). xx

Wait until they ask you,you are the one who will have to care for the ears might as well stay away from it for as long as possible.

I think it is a personal decision for your daughter to make... she will ask if she wants them done when she is old enough to decide.

Hi, I pierced my daughter's ears when she turned three months old. I think sooner than later is better because babies get over the pain so fast. She cried for maybe two seconds. We went to a tatto body shop. They are really clean and everything is so sterile and sanitary. I kjust didn;t want to go to the mall and have some teenage girl, who probably isn't very experienced, pierce my baby's ear. At least at the body shop they are very experienced and clean!! I hope I helped!!

I waited until my daughter was about 7 months and wished I would have done it even sooner! I agree with the other ladies, sooner the better! Even though Shelbie did GREAT while getting them done, I have problems now getting her to leave them alone! I think had we done them earlier she would have never thought about them being there! If they are there when they discover their ears to them its just a part of this "new" ear they've found!

I'm letting my daughter decide. I was 7 when I got my ears pierced and I learned then what a piercing takes to make sure it heals correctly. I'm afraid that if I let her forgo that experience then she'll be more likely to get something else pierced later in life . . . (not that there's anything wrong with piercings, I just want her to know what she's getting into before she does it.)

Hey Kelly, again i have an experience with this question. I made the decision when Michaela was born that i wouldnt get her ears pierced until she could decide for herself. That day came just after her 3rd bday when she went to see Angela and her house mate get theirs done, she decided to get them done and the lady did one ear and Michaela was so traumatised and screaming that she wouldnt let the lady do the other one, now she still only has one earring! I have changed my mind and i recon get it done asap, cause really what little girl isnt going to want their ears pierced at some stage and its better that they cant remember it. Luv Megan.

I have 2 girls and I got their ears pierced when they were 4 months old. It is up to you in the end. I got their ears pierced when they were young so that they would always know them as being there and not really bother with/play with or touch them. I figured it was the best way for them to heal properly and not get infected, and if they grow up and dont want them then it's as simple as just not wearing earrings anymore. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!!

Both mine had them done between 5 and 8months. The younger the better. They don't understand and the pain really doesn't stay with them very long. My youngest got her binky after and was fine.

Yet it is a struggle to keep them in at that age. I've lost more earrings then I can count. They both are going without for now because they require 14ct gold or they get real red and inflamed and I haven't been able to afford it.

I got my daughters done just after she turned one. but i wish that i would have gotten it done sooner. it was very hard because she screamed the whole time. i felt soo bad. I believe the earlier the better if you are wanting to get it done. it took us a while to do it she moved around so much but of course she does not like to be held down either. (she hates the doctors lol)

Hi, you should get her ears pierced as early as you can i would say 3 - 6 months bcuz they cry but then they calm down much quicker when they are younger. good luck

I took my daughter when she was 4 months and my neice when she was about a year and a half. My daughter has had no problems and no infectictions where my neice has. The older they get the more curious they are, when they're still tiny they can't pull at them and they heal a ton quicker! They also cry a lot less! Good Luck!

Yes! I got both of my girls ears done when they were 6 months old and I am so glad that I did it then cause they dont like pain. So i knew that if I had waited they would not have let me do it now. So go get it over with now while she is still too yougn to remember the pain of it.

I'm letting my daughter decide...My parents did this with me and I got my ears pierced at 4 years...I don't want to put holes in her ears if she isn't always going to want them there! Just my opinion!! Good Luck on your decision!!
